This season of 16 and Pregnant was one of the most heart wrenching and the worst of the girls was Kristina, the one whose fiance died after being swept out to sea in an undertow.
It was a nightmare story and anyone would love to see her happy. But she is engaged again. Just a few months after her fiance was killed! Apparently that has put her on bad terms with his family (his brother was married to her aunt) and who could blame them?
She is engaged again just months after losing her fiance and having a baby. It seems way too fast. She is not the only one, either.
There were Briana and Sara, the single moms and then there were the other ones who are still with their baby daddies. Worst of all, perhaps was Alex, whose baby daddy is a drug addict (as we saw clearly on the show) and could not even come on the show because of a "legal issue."
Who even knows what that is, but one thing is clear: Count on being a single mom if you get knocked up at 16 and go from there. Don't make your decisions with a boy in mind because chances are, he will leave.

It is depressing and disheartening to see girls like this. In my life, the only young girls I know are educated, driven and ambitious. If they were pregnant at 16, they would not choose to have it.
So it is a different glimpse into a different kind of life for me. I don't understand it. I don't get how any girl could choose to alter her life at such a young age. As a mom, I know how hard it is and I can't imagine having done it any younger than I did at 28. And where I am from, 28 is very young to be a mom.
If any of these girls were my daughter, I would want them to think long and hard before choosing to have a baby with a teenage boy. It is sad and depressing and no matter how much we say, "not every girl is a statistic," we also know the statistics don't lie. These girls have an uphill battle. And they could have avoided the whole thing so easily.
Do you think Kristina should be engaged?

So any closed minded moron can write articles for The Stir? Because that's all I've seen on here are articles written by extremely opinionated idiots who can't write a simple article and state facts - instead has to be overridden with personal beliefs that typically make you wonder how far up the Stupid tree they were when they fell.
of course one could play devil adovacate about her and why shes moving so fast...but its a family blog so stay nice
I just wonder why the editors at cafemom would assign an author to write "recaps" of this show when it's clearly just a facade and a way for her to turn every single article into an argument for abortion. We get it, you don't think anyone doing anything different from you is a good thing and you LOVE abortion. Let's agree to disagree.
ya pretty much...this is a fem website..and only one version will be tolerated
This is a bit of a shitty statement. So if you are or were a teen mom, you are under educated and lack ambition. And how do you know what ALL of the teen girls in your life would do? Did you ask them? Because my guess is they wouldn't even know until they were in that situation.
Get off your freaking high horse.
And to answer your question, Kristina may have gotten engaged quickley, but she needs to do what is best for her and that baby and what makes her happy. If she can find happiness after the tragedy she has experienced, good for her.

sooooooo.........basically these girls arnt smart because they got pregnant and are not heartless bitches weho kill their babies like you....okay? that makes tons of sense
While I can't comment on whether or not she should get married....I don't watch that damn show but it's her life and if she's in love go for it. You can't always control who you fall in love with. If she's just looking for someone to take care of her...well that's another story, but I'm sure she'll figure it out eventually.
But I do take offense to the statement:
In my life, the only young girls I know are educated, driven and ambitious. If they were pregnant at 16, they would not choose to have it.
My sister had her daughter at 17. (Got pregnant at 16) She is smart, driven and ambitious. She graduated salutorian of her high school class and recently received her PhD from Dartmouth (which is an Ivy League school). She has always been a single parent. The dad is involved, but not a whole lot. She is one of the strongest people I know.
I fail to understand how you think giving up a baby makes you a better person, just because you happened to get pregnant at a young age. I think it shows just as much character to own up to it and raise your child, to be an adult. If you are really educated, driven, and ambitious it should be no problem. Yes, some people are not equipped to be parents, especially at such a young age, and in that case adoption is the best for baby. But aborting or giving up a baby just because it is inconvenient to you is not admirable.
I don't like these girls who are getting pregnant to a guy after only being with them for a couple of months. That is NOT enough time to figure out who someone is. I'm sixteen right now, and I've been with my boyfriend for a year and a half. We made it a point to discuss our options and what could happen before we got involved in a sexual relationship, and I think that's what every teenager should do. Wait first, and then discuss your options. Frankly, if a guy can't wait six months or a year to have sex with you, then he isn't worth it. Also, I agree that she is moving too fast. But I also know a girl in pretty much the exact situation (even the same name, creepy...) and she dated again shortly after finding out she was pregnant. Not only is she one of the best moms I've ever met, but her boyfriend is amazing with her son as well and very fatherly. It's not always a bad thing.
If you think 28 is young to get pregnant then a lot of people would have trouble getting pregnant. After 30 it gets harder to have children and then again after 35. Mid-twenties is the best time phyiscally to conceive. I have nothing productive to say about teenage pregnancy so I choose to keep it to myself.
