Well, they went and did it again!
Those dang Sister Wives went and made me have an emotional reaction to their lives that makes it really hard to merely roll my eyes at King Kody and his modern-day harem. Even MORE shocking, last night's episode actually got me thinking that maybe another baby wouldn't be the worst thing for the Browns. (Who, just for the record, already have 842 children. Approximately.)
Because I used to think that the main reason why Meri wanted another baby was because she's the only wife with just one kid (well, Robyn only has one kid with Kody so far, but she's new, so that's different).
But after watching Meri open up about a devastating loss, I realized I was wrong ...
See, four years ago, Meri had a miscarriage. Which was especially tragic and heartbreaking because it was the first and only time Meri managed to conceive in 12 years of trying (following the birth of daughter Mariah).
"We were so excited," said Meri, her eyes overflowing.
Watching that raw pain, it suddenly occurred to me: Meri wants another baby simply because she wants another baby. Not because she's trying to keep up with the other wives. She's like any other woman struggling with infertility. And that's sad.
Makes me wonder if maybe she's seriously considering Robyn's surrogacy offer. Of course, considering the loan officer's bad news (adjacent houses not happening), maybe the Browns have enough on their plate at the moment.
Do you think it would be a good idea for Meri to accept Robyn's offer?

This is a touchy subject in any situation. If they are up to it, surrogacy might be the answer if another pregnancy would jeopardize Meris' health,
I really would not make comments as the writer did in the first pharagraph (kink kody, 842 kids..) it is their lifestyle and we "normal" folk don't understand all that is behind it. Who knows! maybe they have better relation ships than most of us do in normal marriages. Do not judge please.
I feel for her. She's in a really, uniquely uncomfortable situation, in that not only is she struggling with infertility, but she has to watch her husband have babies with other women while she struggles! I can't imagine how heartbreaking that is. I've been through some measure of infertility as well as pregnancy loss and I know how hard it was to face the pregnancies of other friends and family members during that time... I can't even fathom how terrible it must be to know that those family members are carrying your spouse's baby as well. Just another reason why this kind of marriage would never work for me... it must really compound her pain at the situation because normally infertility is an issue a couple goes through together. In her case, she is in some ways going through it alone, as Kody is having babies elsewhere without her.
I love this family. Meri is my favorite. I have to admit, I started watching this show to be judgemental, but I found myself really liking them. It's not a lifestyle that I could live, but it seems to work for them.
I think if she wants another chil she should have one any way she can. If Robyn wants to and Kody and Meri are ok with it why not? All the children belong to them all! God bless them!
How do these people earn a living? If they make a ton of money from t.v., why did they not get financing? They should buy land and build several homes on it.
I'm wondering where you got the number 842??? I count 17, as of Oct 2011.
