'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood's Latest Mug Shot Proves She's Given Up

by Jacqueline Burt on May 25, 2012 at 11:35 PM

amber portwoodTalk about a picture being worth a thousand words. This latest mugshot of Teen Mom's Amber Portwood speaks volumes about the 22-year-old's physical and mental state. What does it say?

To me, it says she's given up. As do her actions:

Yesterday, she told a judge she'd rather serve the 5 year prison sentence she got for drug possession in January than complete her court-mandated rehab program.

If that's not a sign the girl has thrown in the towel, I don't know what is.

Portwood is willingly choosing 5 years away from her daughter Leah. 5 years?! What mother would willingly choose 5 years away from her child?

A mother who thinks so little of herself that she honestly believes her child would be better off is she were behind bars. A mother who truly believes she will "always be a bad girl," as she told the judge.

Even before I saw the mugshot I thought the story was sad, but now that I've seen the picture? I think it's downright tragic. This is a 22-year-old girl, and she looks like she's been battling hardcore demons for decades.

She's 22 years old! No one should be ready to give up at 22 years old. Sure, she's made some huge mistakes, but she has more than enough time ahead to make up for them. Why deny herself the chance of a happy ending when her story has barely begun?

Unless Portwood is finally accepting the public's perception of her as truth. From this mugshot, it certainly appears that way.

Do you think Amber Portwood has given up on herself?

The judge should give her what she wants.

Maybe she said it because she knows deep down that she will never be a good parent. At least she is owning up to it by admitting it.

Who cares, she's crazy and abusive.
She doesn't need rehab, she needs an institution

This is why I quit watching this show. I figured the less of an audience the higher the chance of these shows canceling one day. These girls need to get their shit together without cameras. Same with 16 and preg, cause those girls are all the same, so naive.

I don't like her but what do you expect?? The media has hanged her at every turn. I probably would've given up, too!

Are you serious? She's a girl in a town full of losers from what I can see surrounded by idiots. Her daughters father isn't much better exactly how us she supposed to get better where she is? If anything she needs to do this for her daughter but clearly you'd rather have her continue to go crazy in this situation because that makes for a better article.
