Even though it's probably been quite a while since you had a childhood crush, I'm certain Moonrise Kingdom will have no trouble bringing back those first love memories for many -- and this time with a wonderfully quirky Wes Anderson twist!
Anderson's latest takes place on an island off the coast of New England in 1965. Sam and Suzy, two wise-beyond-their-years 12-year-olds, fall in love and decide to run away together. But while a hurricane is set to hit the island any moment, authorities (including sheriff Bruce Willis) struggle to find them and bring them back to safety.
Sounds like a sweet and special treat for Wes Anderson fans, but does it deliver? Check out the movie reviews and trailer here:
Peter Travers, Rolling Stone:
The hilarious and heartfelt Moonrise Kingdom is a consistent pleasure. By evoking the joys and terrors of childhood, it reminds us how to be alive.
Manohla Dargis, New York Times:
Sam and Suzy, while their story has the charms of a fairy tale and some of its terrors, aren’t playing at love. They are in love, and that is the most real thing in the world.
Claudia Puig, USA Today:
A lyrical blend of wit, whimsy and woe is Anderson's trademark, and Moonrise Kingdom is no exception. With its focus on a pair of 12-year-olds, the film has the quality of an offbeat fairy tale that is both meticulously detailed and dreamlike.
Christy Lemire, Associated Press:
...the look of the film is alive and inviting...
This movie sounds so sweet and inspiring. Now, let's take a look at the trailer:
Moonrise Kingdom hits theaters today -- I think I just might have to see it!
Do you remember your first love? Was it as intense and real as this sounds?

I may go see this one on my own. It sounds more of a chick flick than something to see with my husband.
