Watching a great theater production is magical...but it's a lot of hard work for the people who are putting on the show.
Jennifer Perry, who plays Rosie in Mamma Mia! on Broadway, played the same role in Las Vegas 10 years ago. As she tells us, at the time she was single, not a mom, and, well, 10 years younger!
Now, though, the days of sleeping until noon the morning after a show are over! Usually she's been on duty with her son Wayne since 8 a.m., and has to be onstage singing and dancing and full of energy 12 hours later. Think how drained you are at the end of the day, and imagine having to be on stage to entertain a bunch of paying customers in a well-loved show.
In fact, Jennifer prizes the time she takes care of applying her own makeup because it's about the only alone time she has all day. Sounds familiar?
But it's not like it's exactly restful...she needs to do hair, makeup, get her mike on, and get into her costume. And her dressing room is up five flights of stairs.
But what's cool is that even with the exhausting schedule, she says she still feels a rush when she walks out onstage. It would be nice if all working moms could feel the same about their jobs! Check out the video to see what goes into making Jennifer, working mom, into Rosie, Broadway star.
Where do you find "alone time" in your day?
