reese witherspoonWhen we first heard that Reese Witherspoon's father was accused of bigamy we hoped it was the result of dementia. Betty Witherspoon is suing to have estranged husband John Witherspoon's marriage to Tricianne Taylor annulled because he is still married to her. If John is losing his mind that makes his bigamy understandable.

Reece was called into court Friday and reportedly asked the court to place her father under a conservatorship. Reese has agreed with her mother that her father is not capable of making his own decisions -- but the details of the case are so, so complicated.

Apparently this marriage to Tricianne Taylor was not a spur-of-the-moment whim. John and Tricianne applied for a marriage license way back in July, 2011! Something funny happened with the paperwork -- it did not return to the county and it expired (as all applications do after 30 days). John and Tricianne applied again three days before their January 14 wedding.

It doesn't look like Reese is too excited about her new illegal stepmom, either. According to an affidavit, friends of the Witherspoon family saw John try to bring Tricianne as a guest to Reese's wedding. Security officers wouldn't let Tricianne in because she wasn't on the guest list. An oversight? A slight? Or did Reese not even know about Tricianne at that point?

Anyway, now all sorts of dirt is coming out about Reese's father: His drinking, Tricianne trying to borrow money based on his credit. I'm sure Reese loves that. Not only does she have to deal with a (probably) emotionally distraught and humiliated mother, but now her family's private lives have gone public. Hope this is all resolved quickly so Reese can return to her career and her own husband and kids.

Do you think Reese's should be under supervision?
