'50 Shades of Grey' Movie: Kristen Stewart MUST Be Cast as Anastasia Steele

by Mary Fischer on May 10, 2012 at 10:06 AM

50 shades of greyWell, last weekend I finally got curious enough about all the hype and went out and bought a copy of Fifty Shades of Grey. I couldn't wait to dive right in and see what all the fuss is about -- and now that I'm a few chapters in, I really just don't get it. The story line is boring, the first person narrative is driving me crazy, and I'm finding most of the (ahem) love scenes between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey to be totally unrealistic and not the least bit believable. (At all.)

I'll probably power through the whole book just to see if it gets any better, but at this point, I'm way more excited about seeing the Fifty Shades of Grey movie than I am about reading the other two books in the series. And while there are plenty of hot actors who would be a good fit to play Christian, the choice for Anastasia's role is perfectly clear. It HAS to be Kristen Stewart -- hands down.

As I've been snoring reading along in the book, I've had Kristen pictured in my head as Anastasia the entire time. She fits her physical description perfectly, but it's her awkwardness and understated confidence that really make me envision her in the role. There are quite a few other names being thrown around as to who should play Anastasia, including Lily Collins, Alexis Bledel, Emmy Rossum, and Katie Cassidy (who is way too gorgeous for the role), but somehow I just don't think fans will buy into the character as much on screen if Kristen isn't cast. And considering the author had her in mind when she wrote the book, it will almost be a slap to her if another actress is chosen.

More from The Stir: '50 Shades of Grey' Has Ryan Seacrest All Hot & Bothered

If Kristen does land the part, the chemistry will be totally off the charts if they put Robert Pattinson in the role of Christian Grey. But for some reason, I'm just not sure he's the right guy to play him now that I've read some of the book. I'm thinking it needs to be someone a little bit older and more commanding, like Ryan Gosling or maybe even Ryan Reynolds? (Yummy.)

Who do you think should play Anastasia Steele & Christian Grey in the movie?

Anyone from the twilight cast should stop being cast in anything else ever again.

I don't hate the idea of Kristin, but I do hate the idea of Robert. One, because it just seems to gimmicky to cast both of them and two because I don't think he has enough of a presence. Now, Ian Somerhalder on the other hand would be perfect! And not just because I want to see him in sexy, sexy sex scenes. ;-)

I have never NOT agreed with something more. Every single actor in any of the Twilight movies are the worst actors of all time. Kristen Stewart is boring both as an actress and in real life and the same can be said for Robert Pattison. They deserve each other but not on the big screen as Christian and Anastasia. Save those roles for someone with real acting talent because they are going to need it to pull of those characters.

god no...not kristin stewart! There are MUCH better actresses out there! I would not feel compelled to see it if she was the lead role.
