'50 Shades of Grey' Mother's Day Ad Will Keep You Laughing for Weeks (VIDEO)

by Suzanne Murray on May 6, 2012 at 9:44 AM

50 shades of greyOMG. If you didn't see Saturday Night Live last night (Eli Manning hosted), you missed one of the best skits ever in the history of the show. It is the funniest thing I have seen since, well, Bridesmaids. And it's no wonder because Oscar-nominated Bridesmaids actress Kristen Wiig is one of the skit's stars and if you ask me, she's one of the funniest comedians out there -- and soooo much nicer than Chelsea Handler.

The faux ad is about what to give Mom for Mother's Day and shows dads and kids surprising mom with breakfast in bed, flowers, and gifts, but the problem is these moms don't want to bothered. They are, er, "enjoying" themselves while reading Fifty Shades of Grey.

Think vibrators, washing machines, and yellow rubber gloves.

Send your own kiddies out of the room and watch:

AWESOME.

Have you ever been "caught" reading Fifty Shades of Grey?

I don't see what the big deal with this book is. I've read novels much steamier and way more erotic. This book series not once put me in any mood and my husband is away. With the big deal America is making over this book, it's my guess a good percentange has never read books such as this before. I will go back to reading Zane. Now that author knows how to put me in a "touch myself mood". On another note the video was funny.

I'm so tired of the hype. I read a few passages online and zzzzzzzzzzzzzz... nothing impressive.

The SNL video is hilarious though!

Why is everyone acting like this is the first erotic book out there. O-M-G, it's a book about sex... what's next!? people having sex on video! and we can name it something like...porn.!!!

^ that's how everyone is acting. It's not anything new or shocking.

I agree with coupon ash. I read a few passages online. Not only was I not impressed, but it reads like a kid wrote it.

The SNL skit is funny... but 50 Shades... blech! Not only was the writing substandard, the number of times she "blushed scarlet/beet red" was over the top. And yes, Coupon Ash and AllisonWD are right... there are much better examples of well written, loving, honoring, cherishing and really hot sex stories out there. (I have a website featuring the best of erotica, and 50 Shades would not have made it through my filters!)

    Happy Mother's Day!

    lmao That's hilarious.

I picked the book up but I've only read the first few pages so far. I have read other great erotic stories though so I'm worried about whether it's going to be a big waste of my time or not.

I read constantly, usuall history/politics books.  This book is awesome.  Not going to win any Pulitzers, but it is captivating.  If you are on the fence, then take my advice, not that of the other people on this thread (no offense).  There's a reason every young mom in America is reading this.

I've been reading the books this weekend, and my husband is definitely reaping the benefits.  I had to explain to him my sudden change of "mood" because the book surely got me thinking.  Sure, the writing isn't prize-winning, but it isn't supposed to be.  I hope that more women enjoy the books and get something fun out of them.  I think it is a GOOD thing for women to feel like it is acceptable to read this kind of stuff, and the books' popularity makes it possible.

I thought the skit was hilarious, love all the ladies in it. Read erotic stories before by plenty authors, will have to read 50 Shades & see what its all about. But yeah, although I haven't read it yet, people seem to be making a big deal about it. There's been many, many erotic books before, will have to see what makes this one soo different
