'Khloe & Lamar' Cancellation Proves Good Marriages Don't Last

by Kiri Blakeley on April 30, 2012 at 11:46 AM

Have Khloe and Lamar had their last lame yet respectful kinda-but-not-really half-fight? On TV, I mean. Word has it that Khloe & Lamar, one of the umpteenth Keeping Up With the Kardashians spinoffs, won’t be back next season. The official reason is that Lamar, who is struggling in his pro basketball career, wants to get back to focusing on his game. Yeah, I’m sure the ratings slide has nothing to do with it ...

While Lamar’s stalled career may indeed be a good reason to pull the plug on the show, there’s a better reason why it isn’t gelling with audiences the way its sister shows have. That reason is one word and one word only.

Draaaamaaaa. Reality TV thrives, indeed lives, on drama. While Khloe and Lamar tried their best to give it to us, it was always sort of a namby-pamby, someone-got-a-boo-boo drama. Little bro Rob is acting like a spoiled brat -- again. Best bud Jamie is acting like a spoiled user -- again. Lamar’s father is asking his son for perks and goodies -- again. So what? Did any of it make you want to tune in the next week to see what happened? You already know what's going to happen.

More from The Stir: Khloe Kardashian Has a Sexy Marriage Secret More Couples Should Try

I have to say that Khloe and Lamar do seem like a great couple. I’m a little tired of Khloe’s omnipotent powers over everyone -- how many more times can we see all-knowing Khloe come in and calmly solve everyone’s issues with a wave of her guru wand? But I genuinely liked Lamar: He’s sensitive, articulate, intelligent, and seems genuinely devoted to Khloe. We need more men like him in real life, let alone on TV.

But their marriage just simply didn't make for exciting TV viewing. I didn't really care if Khloe got pregnant or not. It’s not like she’s freaking out about it -- as well she shouldn't -- so why should I?

The sad truth is that Khloe and Lamar are just a little too mature for reality television. And that's a compliment. Now the pair can get back to what they're both good at: basketball for Lamar and being Kim and Kourtney's sidekick for Khloe.

Are you bummed that Khloe & Lamar might not come back?

You think Khloe is *ahem* too mature?? Have you heard the disgusting way she speaks to her own mom, and makes naked videos for LaMar ON FREAKIN TV!!!! If anything, shes too trashy and not as good to look at as her sisters.

This F-ing show ruined Lamar's game.  He couldn't train properly because he had to do all this taping shit for his in-laws.  Every NBA player is taunting him and making fun of him, and above all have lost respect for Lamar and his basketball skills and he has lost his reputation.  I'm sure he loves Khloe and all, but the WORST thing he did for his basketball career, is to marry into this Kardashian family.  They are toxic, posion, and ruthless.

I'm sure Lamar told Kris that he wouldn't do the show anymore.  Perhaps that had something to do with the cancellation.  Considering how many shows they have on E! they pretty much OWN it.  Lamar must have done something for Kris to shut this shown down.

What he really should do is to shut out his entire extended family, and just focus on his career and his marriage.  Isn't that what "real world people" do in their liives?
