Emily Maynard swore up and down that she would not be the next Bachelorette. She said she had no interest and wouldn't do it. Fast forward a few months and sister is singing a different tune. Rumor has it that there is one reason: Money.
Yes, that's right. Word on the street is that Maynard was given $250,000 for her trouble and all kinds of other allowances, like picking out the ring herself and, obviously, choosing where it was filmed. Even if these things are true (and who knows if they are), I have two words: So what?
I mean, seriously, can't Emily make money since we all know she won't find love. Seriously, people, come on.
Every season, we all say we hope people are in it for the "right reasons." These "right reasons" never include money or fame or career, but those are the only three things the contestants usually end up with.
The success rate for the show is abysmally low, so why shouldn't Emily -- a single mom of one daughter -- try to get what she can get. We can all be Judgy Mcjudgerson about it, but the fact is, not one of us would turn down a quarter of a million dollars to basically be flown all over the world and fawned over by 25 men. Am I right or am I right?
Emily Maynard is just like anyone else who sees an opportunity and takes it. There is nothing wrong with that at all.
For anyone who is judging, they are probably just jealous. Any one of us, if single, would happily do the same thing, but not all of us are highly desirable 25-year-old blonde women, right? Haters gonna hate, it's true, but if Emily took money, then more power to her.
She -- and her daughter -- deserve even more given what they are about to go through.
Do you think Emily really got paid?
