'Child Celebrities Oppose Kirk Cameron' PSA Is a Hilarious Blast from the Past (VIDEO)

LOL 98

ccokcRemember when Kirk Cameron popped back into the headlines and we were all, "Oh hey, Mike Seaver from Growing Pains! I loved that show." But then he opened his mouth and started spouting off about gay marriage being destructive to the foundations of civilization, and we were all, "Ew, he grew up to be a homophobe weirdo! LAME." That was super disappoiting for Mike Seaver fans. And gay people.

Well, it turns out it was also super disappointing to Kirk's fellow child stars. And so, they banded together to form an organization: Child Celebrities Opposing Kirk Cameron, or CCOKC. Then they made an important PSA video to let us know that 1. Kirk Cameron is so, so wrong and 2. Hey, look, we grew up to be relatively sane!

Haven't you always wondered what the kid from Mr. Belvedere grew up to look like? Or the kid from The Parent 'Hood? Or the kid from Charles in Charge? You haven't? Me neither, and clearly I cannot even remember their characters' names.

But I'm pleased to report that they have all aged tremendously well -- not a one looks older than 35! More importantly, they're funny as hell and they make some pretty sharp points about what a bigoted knucklehead Kirk Cameron is. I pity the fool who uses the ancient Greeks as an argument against homosexuality.

SIGH, Keith Coogan, I'll babysit for you any time. Oh -- hello! Anyway, thanks CCOKC, for turning our Kirk Cameron frowns upside-down.

Do you remember these shows and former child stars?

LOVED the video! Not only was it funny but it actually asked valid questions. Thanks for sharing.

Kirk Cameron has always been a devout Christian.  He was asked a question and he answered it honestly. Its getting pretty bad that now a days that you cannnot have a different opinion without being called names or being told to shut up.

Very amusing. However, Kirk Cameron answered a question honestly and with his own personal beliefs framing his answer. He's entitled to his opinion as well.

It's fine for him to express that he thinks homosexuality is wrong because of his morals.  But saying that the sexual choices of a particular group of people is destructive to the foundations of civilization is one: giving such a small population way to much credit (straight people can destroy civilization too ya know!) and two:  is just a very douchey thing to say.

He has an opinion as is his right. Do I agree? No. But that's the glory of opinions. I don't have to.

The video was pretty freaking funny though. "CCOKC...Getting all up in Kirk Cameron's ass". Ha!

Billsfan change gay to black people or asians or any others and would you feel the same

I understand billsfan's statement.  Mr. Cameron is permitted his beliefs.  I am permitted mine.  My belief about gays does not correspond with Mr Cameron's.  I am of the opinion that love is always to be encouraged.  It does not matter to me if the love is between a man and a woman, two men or two women.  I will also say that love will wait for both parties to be mature enough to participate.

Yes Kimbyann. She would. Because This whole laissez-faire "why can't he have his opinion without being criticized" angle she and alot of the other regular conservative commenters take only applies when it's someone they agree with. If, say, Kirk made a pro choice PSA or came out for gay marriage, you sure wouldn't see her defending him against people disagreeing then. Also note the irony of the idea - as they defend it - that he has the right to say what he wants. Of course he does; we all do. But as others have pointed out, so do those who wish to say they find him wrong and mean spirited. He "loves" all people, in jesustalk, translates to "I want to save you and show you the light! I love you. Enough to try to make you me! Oh wait, you disagree? Meh. You're going to hell."

Although I don't believe with Kirk's opinion it's still just his opinion.  If you don't support gay marriages you are automatically called names and that's foolish.  There will always be people who view differs from yours and no one should be called lamed or anything else.
