This year's Lollapalooza will be all about rock 'n' roll -- except when it's all about electronica. Yes, there's something for everyone at this show, everyone except maybe Grandma and your 3-year-old. (I don't see They Might Be Giants on the list.) The headliners include -- OMG, YES! Florence + The Machine! And some other bands, whatever.
Oh I'm kidding, of course we'll tell you who else will be there! Check out the exciting lineup for Lollapalooza 2012, which begins August 3 in Chicago.
Other big-name headliners include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack White, Black Sabbath, The Black Keys, Avicii, The Shins, and Sigur Ros. Remember The Afghan Whigs? Anyone? They'll be there, too. You can see the whole dang Lollapalineup here.
Lollapalooza founder (and Jane's Addiction singer) Perry Farrel says putting together the lineup for Lollapalooza every year is a real "nail-biter," but he's proud of this year's, with the balance of indie rock and dance music: "That lineup is just going to be so exciting and it’s so diverse. I think it works so well." But where is the hip-hop? I'm not sure I agree that this is a truly diverse lineup, but it does look fun.
If you're tempted to try and go now that you've seen the lineup, I have sad news for you. All the discounted early-bird tickets are sold out. But you can still get the regular-priced, three-day passes for $230. And to tell you the truth, if babysitting were included that would actually sound like a bargain to me. Ahhh, I can smell the marijuana now, can't you? This will be loads of fun for you upright American kids who like to dance.
Have you ever been to a giant rock festival like Lollapalooza or Coachella?
