Oprah Doesn't Have the Midas Touch After All (VIDEO)

oprah winfreyEven though the OWN network has been getting terrible ratings for almost a year now, I never thought Oprah would admit to its shortcomings. Not because she's egotistical, but because I just assumed she'd turn her network around before things got worse. Everything she touches usually turns to gold, so why would her lifestyle TV channel be any different? Welp. It would seem that the good O's luck has finally run out. During an appearance on CBS This Morning, Opes admitted to host and best friend Gayle that the Oprah Winfrey Network is, uh, kind of a big fat mess.

Oprah goes as far as to say that if she were writing a book about her experience launching her own network, it would be called 101 Mistakes. Gulp.

OWN is a disaster. Between the firings and the less-than-inspired content, the programming has been underwhelming. No one's really tuning in, and worse, no one really cares that it's tanking.

Oprah says it's always been a dream of hers to start her own network and now that it's flailing, I'm sure it can't be easy to bear. She told Gayle that her biggest mistake was launching the network when it wasn't yet ready. She likens the experience to a bride walking down the aisle while thinking, "No, I can't do this. I'm not ready!" but goes through with it anyway. Not many successful marriages, or business ventures, have a happy ending when they have such an uncertain beginning.

Even though Oprah doesn't take the opportunity on the morning show to give us one of her famous, uplifting talks about how everyone makes mistakes, and how all we can do in life is learn from our experiences, I think she'd appreciate us walking away from OWN with our heads held high.

If you go for one of your dreams and it doesn't work out? Eh! At least you went for it and gave it your all. And that's all that matters, right, Opes?
