Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy on ConanWhen my fiance introduced me to the Will Ferrell classic Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy early on in our relationship, I'll be honest -- I groaned, rolled my eyes, and was seriously not feeling it at all. But after learning that he and his buddies actually communicate sometimes by tossing lines from the film back and forth at one another, and after the second and third viewing, the flick started to grow on me. Seems like a lot of people had similar experiences with it, because the story of silly '70s news anchor from "San Di-ahh-go" Ron Burgundy has become a complete cult classic.

Thus in the past eight years, there's been a lot of talk about a sequel, but no action. That all changed last night when Ferrell confirmed last night on Conan O'Brien's TBS talk show that Anchorman 2 is a go! Whoo! Here's what we know so far ...

Obviously Ferrell will reprise his role as Ron, but thankfully, most of the original cast is signing on, as well. That means Steve Carrell will be back as lamp-loving Brick Tamland and Paul Rudd will return as Brian Fantana. OMG, with those three, hilarity is sure to ensue. Also, Judd Apatow is producing, along with Ferrell and Adam KcKay (who will also direct and script to flick with Ferrell).

As far as what we don't know? Well, no word yet on whether or not Christina Applegate will be back as "lady anchor" Veronica Corningstone, but come on -- she has to! The film just wouldn't be the same without her. Also, Ferrell and McKay are apparently only just "kicking around" ideas for movie so far. But I'm sure fans can come up with more than a few ridiculously funny ideas.

One thing I want to know: At the end of the first film, they gave "updates" on the characters, like Brick became George W. Bush's top adviser ... So would the sequel take place NOW? Eww. No, I sure hope not. The magic would so be gone! If they're gonna fast forward, hopefully they take the story into the '80s. There's plenty to make fun of from that era!

Here's a clip of the news segment about the film and Will Ferrell's announcement on Conan ...
