Katy Perry is a firecracker. Between her wild outfits, her wigs, and her song, er, "Firework," the 27-year-old pop star is unpredictable. She speaks, and sings, her mind, which is great for us, sometimes not that great for her. After a radio interview with the BBC, it's been declared that she and Beyonce are now feuding because of Katy's harsh words about Beyonce's duet with Shakira. Uh. Oh.
Katy explained to the station that she and her good friend Rihanna are planning on putting out a duet, but that they're not in any hurry. Katy wants it to be right. Katy wants it to be "iconic." Katy wants to make sure it's nothing like Beyonce's song, "Beautiful Liars." Diss.
Apparently, Katy and Rihanna have been toying with the idea of a joint track for the last two years but haven't figured out yet how to perfect it and effectively blow people's minds. She said:
We've collaborated on a lot of things, but just not songs yet. It's one of those things that's got so much build up that we have to deliver. I want it to be like that Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin song "Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves", not "Beautiful Liar." How disappointed would you be if that song came out and it's no good? Sometimes you have to wait for greatness.
I don't know who Katy thinks she is (besides a multi-platinum, Grammy award winning, world famous singer), but she better step off. No one can talk about Beyonce like that. Sorry! It's just true. There are some people who are simply above reproach and Beyonce's one of them. So is Amy Poehler. Oh, and your mom. These are the cold, hard facts of life, and the sooner Katy learns them, the better.
Also, no pressure or anything, but when she and Rihanna eventually release that duet, it better be so good that my socks are literally blown off of my unsuspecting feet. Literally. Because you can't just go around dissing Beyonce and hyping your own song that you haven't even written yet without any consequences. It just doesn't work that way.
Are you excited to hear Katy and Rihanna's duet?
