Kirk Cameron Is Even More Self-Righteous and Bigoted Than We Thought (VIDEO)

Rant 123

kirk cameronColor me disgusted. I thought I lost all respect for Kirk Cameron back when the newly born-again sitcom star had a big moral hissy fit about his co-star Julie McCullough's past as a Playboy centerfold and got her fired from Growing Pains. But after the incredibly offensive, self-righteous comments Cameron made to Piers Morgan last night, I somehow lost even more respect for him. His respect account is overdrawn, let's put it that way.

Look, it's not like I was surprised to hear the former Mike Seaver say he doesn't support gay marriage. Not after the whole Playboy thing. But what he said about homosexuality in general was shockingly intolerant, even for him. Cameron told Morgan:

"I think that it's ... unnatural. I think that it's detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization."

Yeah. He really said that. Out loud and everything.

Honestly, there are so many things wrong with Cameron's statement I don't even know where to start. Like, I'm starting to wonder if maybe there was some sort of accident at some point, like a serious head trauma kind of thing, that made him go completely frickin' insane. Tell you the truth, I almost hope that's the case, because if he's not brain damaged, then there's no excuse.

The folks at GLAAD were predictably horrified by Cameron's words (they said he "sounds even more dated than his 1980's TV character," HA!) and plan on making sure the news/entertainment industries are made very aware of his homophobic views.

With any luck, their efforts will completely destroy the pathetic remains of Cameron's once-booming career.

After watching this clip, how do you feel about Kirk Cameron?

Freedom of speech and opinion.

I would like to know where it's written that every MUST accept homosexuality. He's allowed to have his opinion. I just don't understand why, when someone speaks their opinion on a subject, and it doesn't jive with what others think, then they condemn the person. Like I said, there is no law that says people have to believe in homosexuality.

For heaven's sake, stop whining about freedom of speech, people. He has the right to voice his opinion and no one is denying that, but other people ALSO have the right to say he's a hateful bigot!

Disagreeing with someone's opinion does not equal quashing their freedom of speech.

I know he has a right to say or think whatever he wants, but that doesn't mean he isn't a bigoted asshole.

He's entitled to his opinion. I disagree, but he can think what he thinks and say what he thinks. However, I do take issue with others trying to enforce what they believe on others - ie actively trying to fight against legislation for equal rights. You don't want gay marriage, you think its wrong, fine don't have a gay marriage. But let other people; its not your business or right to make other people live by your values.

He handled himself very well and was not condemning.  He answered the questions based on the God that he serves, the God who saved him, the God who he has devoted his life to. The people writing the articles on this website are self-righteous and bigots. You use this site as a political platform to spread hate and judgement.  It is not WRONG to believe that homosexuality is WRONG AND UNNATURAL.  You don't agree with that but your reaction shows your extreme level on intollerance for people that don't share your liberal views.  He is a good man, he loves his wife and takes care of her and their children.  He serves people by showing them love and showing them the hope that they can find in Christ.  He doesn't hold a gun to anyone's head and force them, as you seem to want to do.  He shares his faith opening and with passion and abandon and deserves respect for being the man he is.  You are a sad example of the world we live in.  He would never call a homosexual a bigot or a liberal a bigot or attack you, he is a much better human being than you could ever aspire to be.

If you think that is startling, read the thousands of people on twitter that spew hate, racism, sexism and general disdain for our President and Government.

You can find some by this hashtag or twitter name, and more will be revealed. #tcot or @sandrafluke or @owendbanks

This isn't about politics, it's about the level of bigotry and self righteousness that would shed a light on Kirk Cameron's remarks.

He can say whatever he wishes because that is our right as Americans. Just the same as it is your right to say the absurd things you do.  I can't say I disagree with him.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. It's not like he said something to someone about being gay. He was asked his opinion and he stated it.

It's nice to know that the witch hunt has started.......
