Remember way back last fall when we were all excited to see Bristol Palin's new BIO reality show? Okay, maybe excited isn't exactly the right word, but after she got into a bar fight when an idiot called her mom a "whore" while cameras were rolling, our interest in the show was at least piqued. Only then, it quietly faded away and seemed to die a slow never-to-be-seen death.
But it's back ... sort of. Lifetime network announced today that it has purchased a Bristol Palin reality show titled Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp. Instead of glam Hollywood, it's the cold climate of Alaska that will be the backdrop for at least 10 30-minute episodes. In a news release, Rob Sharenow, executive vice president of programming for Lifetime Networks, stated:
From the first moment she was thrust into the public eye, Bristol and her son have been the subjects of a huge amount of curiosity and misunderstanding. This show will reveal the real Bristol Palin and her journey as a daughter, mother and a young woman making her way in the world.
Personally, I smell potential. I'm no fan of Bristol nor her mother, though I probably hate them less than most. As long as they go nowhere near the White House I find them quite interesting actually, and I think the show could be good.
In her short life, Bristol has been through everything from teenage motherhood to a stint on Dancing With the Stars. She has a tumultuous former relationship, a pretty darn interesting family, and there's the whole wild Alaskan way of life -- polar bears! Plus, she's shown us she has some spunk (see video below). You can't tell me that's not a whole lot of fodder for good television ... even if you just want to tune in to mock her.
There's even a chance Levi Johnston could have a role on the show, according to ABC. Apparently he's been offered one, and he's considering it. Please let him say yes, for drama's sake.
The show is already in production and will air sometime later this year. I can't wait to see what it brings.
