I don't know about you, but when I was watching the Oscars on Sunday night and I saw Angelina Jolie command the red carpet by repeatedly thrusting out her right leg, I fell to my knees and wept, so overcome was I by the glory of that single sinewy thigh. However, even the magic of those poses paled to the transcendent moment when she took the stage to present the award for Best Adapted Screenplay, for it was then that the Leg was revealed in its full majesty.

It was noble. It was awe-inspiring. It was a somber thing of beauty that didn't deserve to be tarnished by the horrible screenwriter Jim Rash, who dared to mock the mighty Angelina afterward.

At least, that's how the poor guy has apparently been made to feel, because if you can believe it, he's actually offered an apologetic-sounding explanation for his actions. You know, as if anyone needed to know WHY he was poking fun at Jolie's insanely awkward pose.

Jim Rash is one of the screenwriters for The Descendants, and as the writing team accepted the award, Rash paused to mimic the already-infamous Leg Pose by placing his left hand on his hip and jutting his right thigh out in the same ridiculously contorted manner.

It was hilarious and awesome and I'm sorry but she totally deserved it. Check out the video:

Rash provided one of the funniest moments of the telecast, but he's clearly a little worried that the Wrath of Jolie will come down upon him, because he's issued a few nervous-sounding explanations for the move:

It was just an impulse. (...) I hope it was okay. I hope she thought it was okay. It was a loving tribute.  

His co-winner Nat Faxon added,

Angelina’s supremely hot. There’s no way to do anything but honor her.

Oh COME ON you two. Grow a pair and say what you really mean: that she looked comically stupid with her thigh on display. When did Angelina Jolie become the most untouchable person in Hollywood? It's like when Ricky Gervais made fun of The Tourist and everyone was like oooooooooooooooooh, I can't believe he went there. IT WAS A SHITTY MOVIE! HELLO!

I mean, I don't dislike Jolie, but it's like she's morphed from a blood-vial-sporting hellcat into Mother freaking Teresa. She's just a person, for crying out loud. A person who likes to come across as poised, glamorous, and remote ... but ended up looking like a damn fool on Sunday night. In fact, I think she's got a great chance right now to win over the hearts of those who haven't been fans of hers in the past—all she's got to do is join us in laughing at her leg.
