In some post-Oscar awards excitement last night, actress Sean Young tried to crash her way into the Governor's Ball. When security guards tried to turn her away, she reportedly put up a fight. A scuffle ensued, and she was arrested for misdemeanor battery.
She must have really wanted to get into that party. The actress, who has starred in films like "Blade Runner" and "Stripes," was held on $20,000 bond and released early this morning. While she maintains her innocence, the crazy thing is that Young is somewhat of a serial party crasher.
She reportedly got arrested at the Oscars back in 2006 for trying to crash the Vanity Fair Party. You'd think a girl might learn where she's not wanted.
Sadly, it may actually be a sign that she's struggling with some sort of substance abuse, as she has in the past. In 2008 she was removed from the Directors Guild of America awards and went into rehab shortly thereafter. She seems to have a thing with awards shows.
Reports of her odd behavior earlier last night add to suspicion that substance abuse may have been at play. A reporter from USA Today saw her approach Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at the Oscars. She apparently requested a picture with them (and anyone else she could), then said to Angie, "Darling, we have the same hair dresser, and girls like us need help with our hair." Whatever that means.
Young blames the security guard in last night's incident and denies she was under the influence of any substance. She wrote on her Facebook page today:
I just want everyone to know that I was sober (and) extremely well behaved when a very stupid security guard went postal on me. The Academy's very stupid lawyer recommended a ‘private person's arrest,’ and I have grounds for a lawsuit against the Academy, although I believe a public apology to me would be much better.
She probably shouldn't hold her breath on that. Regardless of why Young seems to find herself in trouble at awards shows, I hope she gets to the root of the problem ... or at least some better connections so she actually gets an invitation next time.
Have you ever been caught trying to crash a party?
