CM Punk's Feud With Chris Brown Makes Them Both Look Stupid (VIDEO)

by Linda Sharps on February 22, 2012 at 1:56 PM

I'm not sure how Chris Brown has suddenly become the entertainment news topic of the month, but between his Grammy win, his eyebrow-raising musical collaborations with Rihanna, and now this ridiculous Twitter fight he's having with a WWE wrestler, the dude just keeps making headlines. Whoever's in charge of his PR must be happy as can be right now, because you know what they say: there's no such thing as bad publicity (except your own obituary).

If Chris Brown is a shining example of succès de scandale, it seems a certain pro wrestler who calls himself CM Punk (real name: Phillip Brooks) is hoping to capitalize off Brown's fame. At least, that's the only explanation I can come up with for the childish "feud" they're having with one another.

It started a few days ago when CM Punk randomly tweeted the following:

Since
Brown's not exactly known for taking the high road when it comes to Twitter fights, he fired back:

@CMpunk needs more followers. He's such a leader! Not to mention the roids hes on has made it utterly impossible for him pleasure a women. ... @CMpunk contact my assistant and I'll have em send u an autographed pic for my biggest FAN!!!

Well, that sure got real stupid real fast, didn't it?

Apparently Punk (who has over 600,000 followers, by the way) is into straight edge living, which means he doesn’t use alcohol, drugs, steroids, or even caffeine, and his next move was to post a video explaining this—and providing a little more background on his beef with Brown.

... I don't hit women. Period. In my world women are to be revered and respected and I firmly believe that in this life there are consequences and repercussions for people's actions, and I don't think Chris has paid for what he's done. Picking up trash on the side of a highway does not make amends for repeatedly striking a woman in her face and sending her to hospital. (...) Let's put some gloves out and get in the ring and I will choke you out and I will make you feel as weak and as powerless and scared and alone as any woman who has had the misfortune of knowing a sad, cowardly, little boy such as yourself. And all proceeds can go to a women's shelter of my choosing ... Chris Brown isn't a man and that's fine. I just know that someday, somewhere, somehow, somebody will put Chris Brown exactly where he belongs and that obviously doesn't have to be me, I would just really like it to be.

Here's the full video:

This video can not be viewed on The Stir Mobile.

As for Brown, he had an equally mature and eloquent response:

@cmpunk the video u just posted was cute! It's so funny how defensive u are. And the fact that I really don't know who you are and could give a sh-- is the funny part! (...) I really hope this 15 minutes of fame is paying you for the long run becuz music last forever! Wrestlers come and go according to ratings!

In this painfully dumb war of the words, I guess I'm leaning towards Punk, since he at least seems like he's got a legitimate bone to pick, and Brown just comes off sounding like a hotheaded teenager. But for Punk to deny that he attacked Brown for publicity reasons is a bunch of crap. Why get involved in the first place, if not for the attention? It's not like Brown is really going to agree to a Wrestlemania match, regardless of how many people might enjoy seeing that.

As for Brown, you'd think one of these days he'd learn his lesson about sidestepping controversy on Twitter—but
learning from his past mistakes doesn't really seem to be his forte, does it?

What do you think about this Twitter smackdown? Team Brown or Team Punk?

No idea who this guy is but I love his video. Good for him. Too bad more men can't say the same.

I wouldn't be "Team Brown" for all the world, but this does seem to be pretty ridiculous, even for a celebrity feud. And that's saying something.

I'm failing to see what was so stupid about what Punk said. I think it was great. We've had a lot of women calling Brown out for what he did and I think a man needed to denounce him publicly sa well. Was it for publicity as well? Maybe, but it doesn't make what was said any less true.

Well I am going to have to go with CMPUNK even though I haven't been a fan of his since his career started he makes a valid point. However, my question is why have people waited until Chris started getting his feet back on the ground before attacking him?
