Teen Mom 2 ended the season Tuesday night with the finale episode, and with it came many other endings. For Jenelle, it was the end (let's hope) to her days of smoking weed just to deal with her overweening anxiety. The time had long since come for that bird to fly and I think this was the first episode in which it felt like there really was hope for Jenelle. Maybe she really will be able to medicate her Bipolar Disorder with something other than marijuana she buys illegally.
For Kailyn, it was the end of hope that she and Jo (with whom she had sex in the shower last week) would make a go of it AND the end of her relationship with Jordan. Certainly she seemed more sad about the former and Jo's attitude was annoying. He almost seemed to enjoy telling her there was no chance in hell they were getting back together.
Meanwhile Chelsea moved in the right direction toward her GED and in the wrong direction back toward Adam. Really, Chelsea? Really? But the most gut wrenching part of the finale was Leah and Corey for whom the finale was really their end.
Watching them move out of their home was beyond depressing in every way. There is nothing amusing or lighthearted about watching two people divide their things (including their babies) and go their separate ways. And the worst part, perhaps, is that there is just no reason for it.
More from The Stir: 'Teen Mom' Leah Messer Should Be Allowed to Go Out Without Being Judged
I am not saying Corey is a prize and neither is Leah with her cheating ways, but they did have some good stuff there. It couldn't have JUST been creative editing that made the two of them so sweetly supportive of one another at certain times.
No relationship is perfect, but six months isn't even giving their marriage a go. They could have gone to counseling or worked harder to save what they had. To me, it's obvious they COULD have made it work. But they didn't even try.
Why didn't their parents give them better advice? Or even Dr. Drew? This is a show on TV, but we have to watch them go through this and it's maddening to know these are real people making the very real mistake to throw away their marriage the second they hit a bump.
Maybe it's better that it ends now. Marriage is full of bumps and neither one of these two seems well-equipped to handle them if they can't even deal with this one. But it was a really sad split and one that didn't have to happen the way it did.
Watching Leah and Corey both cry in their empty house was too sad for words. And with that, the season ends.
Did you think they could have made it work?

Sasha there was no way in Hell it was ever going to work for Corey and Leah. I can't feel sympathy for that girl after what she did a week before they got married. Is he supposed to constantly forgive and move on (according to many of your articles, yes)?
And I called it last week that Jo intentionally broke up Kailyn and Jordan. I am not taking responsibility off Kailyn but I just knew he was doing that on purpose and was right. Anyway, she saved Jordan trouble down the road and I'm glad he took off. The sad part is that she wasn't sorry about it whatsoever.
PS Chelsea is an idiot, bless her heart.
They're teenagers, they never should have gotten married in the first place. She never would have been with him if it wasn't for the babies.
Chealsea needs a swift kick in the ass.
Kailyn, well deserves what she got. I didn't like Jorden, I think he was not serious about anything, just a big goofball still stuck in high school. Be shouldn't have been so defensive meeting Jo. I do think Jo had intentions to break them up. He seems like the type who doesn't want another man around his kid or kailyn. Sad, but she shouldn't have done what she did. She should have known better.
Leah and Corey were doomed from the beginning. When you look back to their 16 and pregnant episode and first seasons of teen mom before they were married and see the yelling fighting and arguing. Thats not a good foundation to start a relationship. Corey was leahs rebound, and she still couldn't draw away from her ex.
I think she never wanted to marry Corey. You don't cheat on your fiance a week before your wedding because he was being "mean". Drunk or not, she shouldn't have been around her ex. I do think they gave up. Didn't even try to save their marriage. If they truly did love eachother, trust issues or not counseling and trying to make it work should have been the first steps, not signing the papers the next day.
I think Kailyn has trouble being alone. It seems she always has to have a boyfriend. I couldn't believe her attitude when telling Jordan about Jo. She tried to make him at fault for something, when she's the one who cheated.
You're right Corey & Leah could have tried counseling. It's funny the way people throw out "cheating, cheating" like that's a mortal sin. Yes, it's wrong but it's a symptom of problems in the relationship. People are right that Leah was only with Corey because he stuck around after he got her pregnant. Instead of thinking LONG TERM both of them are only thinking about just right now. I haven't seen anyone mention how in just a month after the divorce Leah met some other guy, got pregnant, got engaged AND had a miscarriage. I totally understand Leah grabbing a hold of any man who keeps coming back. She's not focused on becoming a whole, complete, happy person.
Corey & Leah's parents can't give them any good advice because they don't have any. Both are divorced themselves. People can use the reason "she cheated" to walk out the door. Never mind there are two children involved, correction four children involved if you include Corey & Leah.
