Kristen Bell's Weepy Sloth Meltdown Is a Hilarious Must-See (VIDEO)

by Linda Sharps on January 31, 2012 at 10:54 AM

Are you ready to see the cutest thing on the entire Internet? Because I'm pretty sure the video I'm about to share is, in fact, the cutest thing on the entire Internet, at least for today and possibly for the whole month of January. It involves the unlikely combination of actress Kristen Bell, sloths, and Ellen DeGeneres, and whatever you could possibly think it might be, it's even cuter than that.

First, some backstory: you should know that Kristen Bell is 1) a very emotional person, and 2) really, really into sloths. (Yes: sloths.) What happens when you combine these two intriguing elements of her personality?

Well, as you're about to see, the results can only be described as INCREDIBLY AWESOME.

As she tells Ellen during her appearance that's airing today on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Bell's fiance Dax Shepard recently made one of her dreams come true when he brought a sloth to their house for her 31st birthday:

The day of my birthday, we're sitting in the living room and I hear a knock at the door. He says, "Your present is here. Why don't you go grab the dogs and go in the back room?" I had no context for knowing what it was, but I grabbed the dogs and walk into the back room of the house and I was immediately overcome and I thought, "There's a sloth near. There's a sloth here; it's close; it's going to happen."

Heh. Kristen Bell, SLOTH SENSOR. Move over, The Mentalist!

Amazingly, Bell actually shares the home video footage of her Sloth Reaction, and ... well, there are no words to do it justice. Please, just enjoy:

I mean, come on. That's just hilariously adorable right there. I love when she squeaks, "He's coming for the party?" and looks about 5 years old doing so.

(Also, Ellen's sloth-tease there at the end was equally funny, if maaaaaaaaybe a tiny bit mean.)

I think the thing I like the most about the video is how utterly
down to earth and non-Hollywood she seems. She doesn't exactly come across like a spoiled celebrity princess, you know? It's such an extreme reaction of happiness—lying there on her bed overcome by the fact that she's about to see a SLOTH—and the fact that she was willing to share it (and endure the inevitable mockery that will come her way) makes me like her even more.

The only downside is that next year's gift will surely be a disappointment in comparison ... unless, wait, I know—pssst, Dax:
trip for two to Costa Rica?

What do you think of Kristen Bell's video? Did you find it charming, or too over the top?

I love her! If you follow her on twitter, she seems very real and fun. Veronica Mars is also one of my all-time favorite shows.

LOL!  I love Kristen Bell. That was hilariously cute. I'm so sad they didn't actually have a sloth for her though on Ellen!
