When it comes to playing Elizabeth Taylor, one of the most iconic film legends of all time, it seems only natural that the choice has narrowed to two intriguing 25-year-old Hollywood starlets whose acting talent is matched only by their ethereal, natural beauty, and immaculate public image. I'm talking, of course, about Megan Fox and Lindsay Lohan.
Yes, I'm sorry to say that Fox and Lohan are in fact the hottest contenders for the role of Dame Elizabeth in an upcoming movie, although perhaps it's slightly comforting to know this is a made-for-TV production titled Liz and Dick.
Despite the fact that Taylor once famously said that "No one is going to play Elizabeth Taylor but Elizabeth Taylor herself," it seems that the Lifetime network, much like the honey badger, just don't give a shit.
Lohan has been long been rumored to be in the running for the biopic, which will focus on Taylor's love affair with Richard Burton, and now executive producer Larry Thompson has slyly revealed he's also been considering Fox for the role:
I've been talking to Lindsay Lohan directly, and with her reps, and have been in conversations with other actresses, including Megan Fox. (...) It's a very serious selection. It's like casting for Hollywood royalty.
Actually, that's exactly what it is, dude. Which is why it's CRIMINALLY INSANE that you're talking to these two chowderheads.
It's not that they can't be made to look the part—Fox already has the coloring and god knows if you slap enough makeup on Lohan, she can be nearly unrecognizable—but come on. I mean, really, come on. We're talking about one of the most revered and famous actresses in the entire world here. I'm not saying Lohan doesn't deserve a chance at a comeback or that Fox doesn't deserve a shot at achieving something greater than being "that Transformers chick ... no, not that one, the other one," but I'm absoLUTELY saying that there's no way in hell either one of them deserves to play Elizabeth freaking Taylor.
In fact, I have a suggestion for someone who would be about fifty thousand times better in the part. Who would you rather see playing this memorable film star?
Megan? Lindsay? Or KATE WINSLET?
That's right. Winslet for the win.
Of course, Kate Winslet doesn't really need to do crappy made-for-TV movies, so we're back to Fox and Lohan. Apparently the contract for the part may be signed as early as next week, which might give Fox the edge since Lohan's still on probation until the end of March. Gosh, this one's coming down to a photo finish! Wouldn't Dame Elizabeth be ... proud?
What do you think about the casting choices for Elizabeth Taylor's biopic?
