Kelsey Grammer and Kayte WalshIt was a big night for Kelsey Grammer. Not only the did former Fraiser star (and former husband of Real Housewives' Camille Donatacci Grammer) nab a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Boss, he shared with the world that he and new wife, Kayte Walsh, are expecting twins.
That's great. Really, I'm happy for them. Especially since Kayte and Kelsey's last pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage, but ... is the Golden Globes really the place to be discussing this sort of stuff? I mean, I get that Kelsey's excited -- and he was probably all pumped up from his win -- but still, seems like a bad time and place to me.
The 56-year-old actor doesn't exactly have the best track record when it comes to love. He already has four children with three different women. He's father to son Jude, 7, and daughter Mason, 10, with Camille; Greer, 19, with Barrie Buckner; and Spencer, 28, with Doreen Alderman. He's even a grandfather to Spencer's son. Now, maybe (hopefully) this time is different; maybe Kelsey and Kayte are in it for the long haul, but ... odds really aren't in their favor, given the actor's history. Kelsey should refrain from discussing his private life publicly (or at least so publicly) in the case that things don't pan out. This way, if he and Kayte do wind up calling it quits at some point, it won't be as big of a spectacle as, say, his divorce with Camille. And it'll be easier on the kids.
Hopefully, I'm wrong, though. Hopefully, Kelsey and Kayte will be together forever and ever until the end of time. She seems like a perfectly nice woman, and of course, it would be terrible if their children grew up without a dad. But just so we're clear, I think it would probably be best if Kelsey erred on the side of caution.

How was it a bad idea to announce it to the world then? While I agree that his past record with wives/women is no where near great, how does that affect his upcoming twins? Even if he and Kayte go the way of the do-do bird, those twins will always be his. I think it is great that they made the announcement, just maybe the press will let them live in peace while they are getting ready for the blessed event to come.
