'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Recap: Kim & Ken Are Really Rude Party Guests

12

Ken Blumenfeld and Kim RichardsWe know what’s wrong with Kim Richards to explain her bizarre behavior on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and she went to rehab to deal with her issues. But what in the hell is wrong with her boyfriend Ken Blumenfeld?

Perhaps he faces similar problems -- that would give them at least something in common -- but the guy is almost frightening. He mumbles incoherently, and when you can make out what he’s saying, it’s usually a bit bizarre.

He and Kim finally made it to Hawaii for Mauricio's birthday party after whatever it was that delayed them for 36 hours. They flipped through a variety of excuses from a lost driver’s license to a lost passport, before they finally settled on the reason that they were late: Because Ken had to work. Only Ken is retired. No matter, that was their story, and they were sticking to it.

Mauricio wasn’t willing to let their obvious lie slide, but trying to talk to the two of them was pointless. Kim just wanted to gloss over everything and pretend nothing was wrong and for Ken to drink coffee so he could rub her all night long. To say that watching them together makes one’s skin crawl is a gross understatement.

The next morning Kim and Ken were M.I.A. again, big surprise, as the group waited for them to go out for a day on a boat. They waited 20 minutes before Lisa Vanderpump and Kyle finally went to track them down. They found them still sleeping with some excuse about a wake-up call not working ... of course. Oh, and it was 11 a.m.

They scrambled to go and meet the boat, but they weren't fast enough, and it set sail without them. That meant the rest of them had a great time though. Kyle felt guilty as her sister stood there on the dock, but at least she didn’t demand the boat be turned around as I feared she might.

Kim and Ken went back to the hotel and had lunch while Ken plotted how he wasn’t going to sit back and take the group’s tormenting anymore. “There’s going to be respect or else ... if they can’t figure that out, that’s going to be unfortunate,” he said. Was that a threat, Ken?

Then after some more unintelligible mumbling, he declared, “And by the way, that’s the truth.”

“What?” a clearly perplexed Kim asked.

“What I just said,” he said.

So then he waited for his opportunity, and pounced when he saw one. Only it was totally inappropriate and seemed to weird out even Kim, which is hard to do. Kim was walking with Adrienne and Paul, and just when they were commenting on what a nice guy Ken is, he came storming out of the bushes. “I don’t like what’s going on here,” he said.

Everyone looked scared, and totally befuddled, and for good reason -- it was totally scary and befuddling. When they explained they were just saying good things about him, he backtracked a bit. “Then I may have misinterpreted ... in my own head. I do that sometimes.”

I think he may do a lot of things in his own head.

At the final dinner of the night, Kyle just couldn’t take anymore of Kim pretending everything was fine when there was a big fat elephant in the room. She tried to address her concerns once again, but the best dialogue she got was a ridiculous “We don’t care” from Ken.

It was sad for everyone involved really, and Kyle probably should have picked a better time than another group dinner to go into it. Once again, Brandi Glanville was the only one to even allude to what’s really going -- substance abuse. She nailed it too when she said that Kim would finally hit a wall and ask for help, which is what we know did happen. Reports today, however, said that after a month, Kim Richards has checked out of rehab. While she’s said to be doing well, I have to wonder if a month is enough to resolve what appear to be pretty significant problems. I hope so.

As for Ken, I don't know what he needs, but reports that he and Kim have split recently seem to be for the best. Like Kim says, "Everything happens for a reason," and there seems to be a good one here.

What I really want to know though is why Ken and Kim were actually late to the party. I wonder if we'll ever know.

Do you find Ken Blumenfeld bizarre? Do you think Kyle and Mauricio were wrong for calling out Kim and Ken?

Ok, I think I've figured this all out! Ken is the older brother of Danielle Staub's Sweathog Reject (Caroline Manzo's hit the nail on the head description!) buddy, Danny! It's like in a former life he was the Golden Gloves boxer from Jersey, but got hit one too many times and got hooked on oxy...whateva! And he's helping Kim help self destruct cause misery loves co. I wish Kim well. I want he to get healthy! Honestly, I kno we all tire of the child actor= future skid row adult, BUT I can't imagine looking to anyone of my kids and expecting them to support me & my family! She needs help and hopefully she's getting it & finds out she's worth more than numbing her pain & hanging w/ Losers. I wish her an even better happy ending than she ever got via Walt Disney. Do the work Kim, u desrve happiness.

It's unfortunate that these people feel the need to "call each other out" at parties, dinners, formal functions and all places inappropriate. These events must be hellish for the participants. Who wants to fight or watch people fight while trying to enjoy a nice meal with friends in Hawaii?

Unless Bravo makes them do it that way, which is entirely possible.

Kim has a sense of entitlement. Her tardiness and lying throughout the series has been nothing but, rude. She's lucky that her younger sister his come to her defense in the past. It was time she and Ken were called out by her brother-in-law, it was his Birthday. It affected the entire group and  they should have answered to everyone effected and apologized.

Her month's rehab visit wasn't long enough, however perhaps it was a start, although I seriously doubt it. What will she do now that she's moved farther away from a support group - fall back into her old habits? She has terrible tendicies and is manipulative, leaving rehab!

^^^Does that sound like she is rolling to anyone else??

Kyle and her husband were bullying Kim and for once shel had a person on her side (Ken). Ken felt the hate from everyone and called them out on it. So what Kim didn't want to be there with the crew Kyle brought along on the Hawaii hell trip. Kim was not able to get out of it because of Bravo and Kyle's endless bitching if Kim did go. Kim needs to leave the whole group behind. Brandi should go to the OC version and hang out with Trailer park Tamera and Icky Vicky.

That first comment from bhodge made me laugh! Danny the "sweathog" and this guy Ken.... There are definitely similarities!

Oh the now infamous formal dinner party fighting!!! It's beyond old and certainly way beyond ridiculous!!!!

I too hope Kim spent the appropriate amt of time she needed to rehab enough to get thru to the next step. Ken is out of the picture, and that can only be a positive thing.

Seemed like a beautiful place! Was sooo glad Taylor wasn't there. Please Bravo remove that gal!

Lisa always makes me laugh and I did enjoy Brandi and Camille. I am saturated with the dinner table arguing-reminds me of NY! Wish the fun side would be more prevalent than it has been this season.

I really can't stand Kyle or Kim. Every since the whole game night incident. I like Brandy, Adrienne and Lisa. I have only seen one episode with Ken in it and that is the very first one he appeared in. I seriously need to catch up on this show.

The entire season planned was to focus the most on Russell and Taylor. Unfortunately that couldn't happen. So, they threw in all this other petty crap because that's all they had.  Kim Richards is a nightmare! She's on conflicting, addicting meds and mixed with vodka apparently gives her untold courage.  Sadly, she's, yet again, biting the hand that feeds her, literally, since Kyle and Mauricio financially support Kim and have for years.  One month was NOT even close to enough time for her to deal with all her demons.  And IMHO, she's overloaded with them.  She relies on everyone, including her kids, for her emotions, her style of living, coping in general and she is the consummate liar. (a bad one at that!). I say she's lucky that Kyle barely scratched the surface with her and Ken.  In their drunken stupors, it's no wonder they missed so many flights.  Ken is a freak, controller, obvious alcoholic, loser and an unemployed one at that.  Obviously everyone knew they were both lying.  If they didn't want to be there, they should've stayed home.  Bravo would've probably canned her butt and the show could move forward.  I'm more interested in Beverly Hills shopping, and ladies who lunch!  The RHOOC started off that way and now all the franchises have gone to petty crap bickering, fighting and intense games women play against one another.
