robert pattinsonOur favorite pale vampire is leaving the supernatural behind and taking on one heck of a manly role. Robert Pattinson stars in Bel Ami, a movie based on the classic French novel of the same name, as a penniless solider who goes to Paris to make a fortune. Christina Ricci, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Uma Thurman co-star in this period piece and by all accounts, this is going to one sexy flick. The trailer for the film was released today and it gives us a titillating glimpse into RPatz's new starring role.

And by god, is it hot.

First of all, there's not one, but two scenes in the trailer in which Robert is shirtless and there's not one, but a handful of clips showing him seducing older women. I'm sorry -- is that not a dream come true, or what? Uma and RPatz? Kristin Scott Thomas and RPatz? I love it.

This role could really broaden Robert's fanbase from teens, fantasy geeks, and older ladies who likey the vampires (hello!) to not only the couger sect (hello, again!), but fans of period films, French literature, and critically acclaimed movies. Even though he's one of the most famous men on the planet, Bel Ami could still be a game changer for him. He'll show off some serious sex appeal and acting chops while starring with some of Hollywood's biggest names. I'm sure he'll, um, rise to the occasion.

And good thing RPatz had some practice in a film adapted from a book. Maybe Water for Elephants wasn't that great of a flick, but hey, it might have prepared Robert for this important role in Bel Ami.
