Just one week before the next season of Teen Mom 2 debuts, Jenelle Evans learned she won't be watching the show from the pokey. The troubled young mother managed to pass her drug test and narrowly escape jail. But it's not clear that's good thing.
Evans has been in trouble for so many transgressions, it's hard to keep track. Next week, as we begin the new season, we will really see those unfold since MTV's cameras were rolling through much of it. And we will also know the outcome.
Will Jenelle get better if she never pays for her crimes?
On Tuesday Evans tweeted:
And the judge congratulated me to being clean since August ;) and got drug tested at court and I passed of course. Probation got continued.
We often bash Jenelle here and it's easy to do. She has made enough mistakes for 20 teen moms. On the other hand, the truth is, if she were able to turn it all around and be a good mom to her son, a good daughter to her mom, and finish school and find herself a decent man, we would be the first to cheer.
No one wants to see continued misery and strife. On the other hand, it seems like the pattern is for Jenelle to keep on messing up and for her mother, the judge, the cops, and her probation officers all to give her second, third, and fourth chances. Maybe what would really straighten her out is to pay for what she has done.
Jenelle has had many near misses, but she has never really paid for much. When she got pregnant at 16, her mom took her baby son Jace. When she got caught with drugs, she got probation. When she broke into a home and got into fist fights, it was the same deal.
Over and over again, Jenelle messes up and someone else picks up the slack or cuts her a break. At a certain point, it's no favor to keep her out of jail.
For now, she is clean and that's great. But it doesn't seem like Jenelle can really get better until she has to truly pay the consequences for her actions, and right now, it seems that may never happen.
Do you think it's good she didn't go to jail?

I'm no fan of Jenelle Evans, but I don't see anything she's done that deserves extended jail time. She's not a good mother, but she's no murderer either.
That's what's wrong with society today. We are so quick to want to lock up offenders who have comited minor crimes for extended amounts of time. That costs tax payers money.
Besides, she'd have it easy in jail. If the judge wants to teach her a lesson, he should make her do something that's going to actually benefit her.
I totally agree with Lucretia. I'm from NC (like Jenelle) and they don't throw you in jail if there is no need to. She passed her drug test. She's clean. That's a great sign to me because maybe if she can stay clean, she can get it together to be a better mother to her son.
I don't watch this show so I'm forced to ask, is the person in question like the LiLo of teenmoms?
She should have went to jail the FIRST time she fucked up! That's a GREAT way to show teens that watch the show how to get away with those actions!
Regardless of how you feel about whether pot should be legalized or not, it is still illegal. Do I think she needed jail time? No. But I do think she would have been better served in a court ordered rehab facility where she can face some of those demons and learn how to come to terms with them other than dulling them with drugs.
If someone is not comitting crimes to support a drug habit, then why should someone be sent to jail for using drugs? I'm sorry, but I'm an addict. I have plenty of years clean, and I don't think we've come very far at all from the days of tossing the mentally ill in asylums. Only now we do it with the drug addicts with underlying untreated mental illness, of which 75-85% of addicts suffer from, and throw them in jails. I hate to break it to most, but jail is a vacation from life. I did time and it was more than a month or two. If you can watch tv, read, play dominoes and spades, talk shit and hang out, you can do time. Doing time really doesn;t rehabilitate anyone and I saw a few episodes of "Teen Mom 2" and I think there is some weird, deep rooted shit with Janell's mother. When you have a kid that's an addict, you should first want them to get clean to take care of their own kid. This woman went right to wanting to take that kid from her daughter . I understand that she also wants what's best for her grandkid bbut never once did she even seem to consider that maybe that baby having a clean and competent mother was it. Janelle's mother seemed like a terribly creepy and domineering type of woman and there's rehabs chock-full of people that grew up with a parent like that.
I agree with BrookieCookie1. I never felt bad for Janelle except in one episode when she broke down crying that if her (POS) boyfriend moved there would be no one there to love her. It was very honest and very raw. I felt bad for it. I think it is definitely deep seeded...as good intentioned as her mother may be she is crazy.
