No matter how many signatures they gathered, the Kardashian boycotters' efforts were a bust, and season two of Kourtney & Kim Take New York premiered tonight in all of its glory. And thank goodness they didn't win, because this was some good stuff.
Actually it was pretty much all bad stuff when it came to the sisters' relationships, but at least Mason Disick was there to lighten things up. He really is an exceptionally cute kid. Anyway, it all started with a montage of media reports about the divorce of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, then we were taken back eight weeks to the time right after their honeymoon, when they first hit New York as man and wife.
It was pretty much just like the whole season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians -- Kim and Kris bickered over every little thing, and there was zero evidence of chemistry between them. From her being a neat freak and him being a slob, to him hating the publicity events that make up her life, to their ridiculous living arrangement -- in a suite (albeit a large one) with Kourtney, Scott Disick, and Mason -- there wasn't even a hint that things were going to last for the long haul.
The final straw that appeared to push Kris over the edge and back to Minnesota to concentrate on his career was a yoga class he walked in on at their pad. Kourtney for some odd reason hired a naked man to teach her, Kim, and some friends yoga. It was definitely a strange thing for a guy to walk in on, but c'mon, Kris knew the family he was marrying into, and his reaction was ridiculous -- angry, childish, and rude. It wasn't like it was a one-on-one session with his wife or anything. He embarrassed Kim and himself, and then he was out of there. And really, naked yogi or not, he would have found some other excuse soon.
It's not like Kim is without fault. She's pretty high maintenance and perhaps a "classic over-reactor" as Kris dubbed her, but he's just so unlikable, it's hard to take his side or root for them to stay together. Since we all know how it ends, it's now just a matter of watching the downward descent of the relationship The big question: How did they ever stay together as long as they did?
Kourtney and Scott also seem headed down a path toward their relationship's demise (fingers crossed). She's also pretty high maintenance, and it is weird that they sleep in separate bedrooms, but I can't blame her. He's just whiny and slimy, and his return to his hard partying ways certainly isn't endearing. Her kale chips and enemas may be extreme, but he's lucky she's given him as many chances as she has.
But after a big blow-up between them, Scott finally hit his limit and ended up storming out of the suite in which they were once all so cozily cuddled up -- shaving one and another's armpits and all (Kris and Scott, that is). Now it's just Kourtney, Kim, and Mason, and questions as to what's going to go down with the men in their lives. Scenes for upcoming episodes look intense -- can't wait.
