I've always had a soft spot for Meri on Sister Wives. This is mostly because as Kody's first spouse, she's had to face the most challenges of any of them. Oh boy, another wife? Of course I'll welcome her into our family with open arms! Don't I always?
Plus, I can't imagine how hard it's been for her to watch Janelle, Christine, and now Robyn pop out babies seemingly at will while she struggles with infertility.
Basically, look up "long-suffering" in the dictionary and you'll probably find a picture of Meri.
So I was thrilled to see her finally open up a can of kick-butt on last night's episode of Sister Wives. You go, Meri!
It was about time somebody spoke out about what was going on. See, some of the Brown kids were having a hard time accepting Robyn's three kids from her first marriage into their family -- or, to put it more bluntly, Robyn's kids were essentially being harassed. Like, for months. To the point where Robyn admitted that if the bullying continues, she expects her kids to choose to live with their biological father once they're old enough to make the decision legally (13 years old). Heavy stuff.
The situation came to a head on a family camping trip to the Utah mountains, where one of the Brown kids hit Robyn's daughter in the eye. That's when Meri blew her top, and justifiably so. Addressing the great big group of kids as a whole, she scolded them for not accepting their new siblings and told them in no uncertain terms that it was time for the nonsense to stop.
"I'd like to get some backup from the moms on this," she added at one point, looking extremely frustrated.
Here's the crazy part: She didn't get any backup! Not from the moms, anyway. Kody agreed with her and was glad she lectured the kids, but there was definitely tension coming from the wives. Particularly Christine, who insisted that Meri handled the situation the wrong way and the kid who hit Robyn's daughter in the eye should have been addressed privately.
Meanwhile, two of Christine's daughters are actually planning on moving in with Meri because one of them apparently gets along better with Meri than her actual mom.
Is Christine feeling bitter or resentful about her daughter's choice and is that what set her off? Sheesh, Meri just can't catch a break!
Were you happy to see Meri stand up for herself at last?

I actually like meri I dont like the other wives I think meri husband really care more for robyn than his first wives ... I think meri should really looking inside her and wander if this what she want he is a lousy husband there kids is getting tired of this the other kids don;t like robyn that a sign right there
I love Sister Wives. It works for them. I really do feel for Robyn's first three kids. Maybe she was raised in a polygamous family, but they weren't born into one, and didn't ask for this.
Meri did it right. Nip it in the bud, on the spot.
All the kids were there, yes; not all guilty, but all could see what would happen if they did get in on the action. The other Mom's should have stepped up and opened the can of whoop-@$$, right then, and there.
This is exactly why polygamy would never work for me... it's not even the 'sharing the husband' bit, it's having to content with several moms with different parenting styles. I know how it rankles me when the grandparents or my SIL meddle with discipline of the kids, it must be that much worse when it's all members of the immediate family.
