When I was a kid, a visit with my grandparents on Long Island was incomplete without a little Tony Bennett. And although his smooth voice isn't always my first choice for my day-to-day playlist, I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the 85-year-old soulful singer, which is exactly why I was stoked to hear about his new collaboration CD, Duets II, that features loads of my fave artists of today like John Mayer, Amy Winehouse, Carrie Underwood, and most importantly, Lady Gaga in their rendition of "The Lady Is a Tramp."
You'd think the meat dress diva and Tony Bennett would be a little bit of a weird combo, no? Trust me, not at all. In fact, their voices sound beyond fantastic together! Check out the duo in the new music video, which hit the web today:
How adorable, right?
I just love the way that they vibe off of one another, despite their differences. There is the ultra-modern Gaga with bright blue hair and a gorgeous black lace dress, standing next to the classy, old-school Bennett whose only blip of color is his red pocket square. Nevertheless -- their personalities totally click and their voices harmonize effortlessly. Whether you love or hate Gaga, you have to admit that she sounds dayum good.
Lady Gaga represents this whole new era of music, yet she can still get down with a seasoned veteran of the business, like Bennett, without a problem, which totally showcases her versatility. This collaboration shows that good, quality, music knows no age. Not to mention -- how adorbs is their little dancing bit in the middle? I melt!
