surprise homecomingThere are very few things that are as highly anticipated as the homecoming of your soldier from a long deployment. And on TLC's newest series, Surprise Homecoming, the wait is finally over. Hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus, the show reunites military women and men with their families after serving time overseas. Yup, welcome to your front row seat to an engrossing hour-filled of chills, goosebumps, tears, and that warm fuzzy feeling that's not quite explainable.

By the previews alone, I can tell you that the show is spot on. How do I know? Well, because I lived through it, too.

It's been about eight months since he got back. My boyfriend's second tour of duty as a Staff Sergeant and Infantry Squad Leader in Afghanistan dragged on for what seemed like a decade, although it was only a year and change. I distinctly remember bawling alongside his stepmother at the airplane hangar, feeling a tidal wave of emotion. I watched him walk down the steps of a massive Delta carrier with the rest of his battalion, and leapt into his arms, overcome with joy.

When the service men and women come home, you feel whole again. Months of waiting alongside your phone, hoping for the best and preparing for the worst, those are put behind you. And while words can hardly explain how happy I am to have my boo back stateside, even eight months later, I can't even imagine being blindsided by such a momentous occasion.

Tonight at 10 p.m., TLC will do just that. Viewers everywhere will get insight on just how important family is to the men and women serving our country, and how meaningful moments like these are what make the good fight worth fighting. If there was ever a time I knew I would need a box of tissues sitting down next to the TV, aside from watching crummy Lifetime movies on the weekends, this is undeniably it.

Take a sneak peak at what's to come on tonight's premiere episode of Surprise Homecoming. Warning -- you may need a Kleenex or two just to get through the teaser:

Will you be watching tonight? How was your last homecoming?
