I am not and have never been a Harry Potter fan. I realize this puts me in the minority and the new preview for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 makes it clear just how. The film is coming out July 15, which gives me just enough time to hurry up and watch all the back movies.
It's odd really as for a long time, I refused to read the books because I mostly hate fantasy and I really hate bandwagons even more. And it seemed like I was the only one not loving Harry.
Of course, this always seems to happen. The last trailer for a movie series comes out and suddenly I want to know what all the hype is about, but this one is even more exciting. I know I am supposed to be getting chills while I watch it. The drama! The culmination of so much excitement! The anticipation! And I am right there with them. Until I realize I haven't seen any of the movies.
I feel so left out! See for yourself:
There really does come a time in every cultural phenomenon where those on the outside start to feel a little like a Jew on Christmas (hey! I am Jewish! I can say that!). It feels like everyone else is so excited for something that has nothing to do with me.
This time I want to change all that. Of course, there is nothing more depressing than hopping on a bandwagon long after everyone else has been on it. They are all buds already and you're just this newcomer loser who will never truly "get it."
Alas. This is why I am reading Hunger Games during next month's vacation. This time I will be a fan well in advance and there will be no movie trailer that makes me wish I had been following all along!
Are you a Harry Potter fan? Did you like the new trailer?
