I wish this whole Tracy Morgan scandal would just go away. He made some really distasteful comments about homosexuals, and apparently totally went off on women too (though no one seems to care so much about that). None of it was funny; he's a jerk, and that should be the end of the story with fans rolling their eyes, and never going to see him again. Instead it's turned into one big public relations bonanza for the guy with other comedians now coming out to defend him.
First up is Chris Rock who offered a predictable reaction via Twitter, "“I dont know about you, but I dont want to live in world where Tracy Morgan cant say foul inappropriate s—”
Tina Fey was more thoughtful in her comments, but in the end, concluded "he's not a hateful man."
I would beg to disagree with her on that point. There's a common saying about truth in comedy, and I think Morgan must harbor some of these feelings somewhere. But I do agree with the part where she said "he is generally much too sleepy and self-centered to ever hurt another person." Well, I agree with the self-centered part anyway.
She did say she found his comments "disturbing," but went on to talk about how she's glad he apologized, and that she hopes his apology will be accepted, blah, blah, blah. I love Tina Fey (who doesn't?), but in this case, while I understand her wanting to defend the artistic freedom of her fellow comedians, I wish any statement she would have offered would have gone more along the lines of, "He's an asshole, moving on ... "
He apologized, which I'm sure he was forced to do one way or the other, but that doesn't mean he's sorry, nor does it mean he won't do it again. In fact since this little episode has gotten his name out there so well, he might even go further the next time. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it ups his ticket sales significantly as everyone wants to go hear just what this crazy, edgy comedian might have to say. Oh, he may lose a few fans, but I bet he'll gain even more, sadly.
And if he wants to go there again, fine. I find him anything but funny, but I do think he should have the right to try ... even if he ends up looking like an ass. But if he does, rather than launch a free public relations campaign for the guy, can we just chalk it up to him being the idiot hater he is and move on without him?
What do you think of Tina Fey and Chris Rock offering support for Tracy Morgan?

Because I've read what Tina actually said, not the small snippets you write about here, I feel quite OK and I'm not going to be punishing Tina Fey:
"The violent imagery of Tracy's rant was disturbing to me at a time when homophobic hate crimes continue to be a life-threatening issue for the GLBT Community," Fey told the site Friday night, hours after Morgan, 42, offered a public apology saying he "clearly went too far."
Morgan's hate-filled speech "doesn't line up with the Tracy Morgan I know, who is not a hateful man and is generally much too sleepy and self-centered to ever hurt another person," says Fey.
"I hope for his sake that Tracy's apology will be accepted as sincere by his gay and lesbian coworkers at 30 Rock, without whom Tracy would not have lines to say, clothes to wear, sets to stand on, scene partners to act with, or a printed-out paycheck from accounting to put in his pocket," Fey's statement to TMZ continued.
It doesn't sound like Tina Fey was defending him at all. I am curious as to what Chris Rock really said. I do wish that CM would make these bloggers report the actual truth instead of bits and pieces of it. There is a such a thing called lying by omission and it seems many of the Stir's bloggers like to participate.
I think people should get over it.
Enough with all the whining.
In America, people are still allowed to say what they want and to live with the consequences.

You're right. And these are the consequences he has to live with.
Eh, whatever. The consequences are free publicity lol. Oh well if he hates gays, and has an issue with women. That means he won't be having gay sex, or any sex for that matter LOL!!!!
