Finally, the day has come for Paris Hilton's mom to tell the world how she feels about her daughter's sex tape scandal. From the time the tape was released by then-boyfriend and verified skeezebucket Rick Solomon, the world has been waiting for Kathy Hilton's reaction.
Thank god for the ever classy Piers Morgan, who airs an hour-long interview with both mother and daughter on his show tonight.
Although it's been eight years since One Night In Paris, the video that seemingly triggered a moist avalanche of celebrity sex tapes, Kathy Hilton is clearly still haunted by the images of her daughter performing a variety of adult acts for the camera. Sniffling her way through the interview and eventually collapsing into sobs, Paris's mom reacted dramatically as her daughter described how the tape had changed her life.
"I just felt...just felt so betrayed. This was not some random guy; this was someone I was with for a few years. (…) I can't believe that he would do something like that to me. It's something that changed my life forever. (…) Now when people look at me they think that I'm something I'm not, just because of one incident, one night with someone who I was in love with. People assume 'Oh, she's a slut' just because of one thing that happened to me."
So true. If it wasn't for that one tape that happened almost a decade ago, nobody would ever think of Paris Hilton as a slut. I mean, it's not like she acts out of control or has been arrested for drugs or was sent to jail or dates an endless string of slimy douchebags or is ever photographed with her vagina hanging out, am I right?
Plus, as everyone knows, it's utterly impossible to reclaim your image after a sex tape scandal.
Paris also explained how Rick Solomon sullied her dreams of becoming a legendary female icon:
"You know, when I was a little girl I looked up to people like Princess Diana and these women, and I feel like he took that away from me."
She was well on her way, too. Oh, if it hadn't been for that meddling sex tape!
It's just amazing to me how much Paris has grown over the years, and how self-aware she's become. She's obviously transformed herself into a savvy, mature, intelligent young woman, and is it any wonder her mom got so weepy on the show? That's pride, right there.
