Sean Kingston & Justin BieberNot a very happy Memorial Day weekend for 21-year-old singer Sean Kingston, who was in a life-threatening jet ski accident on Sunday evening. These holiday weekends always seem to lead to headlines that include hundreds of young people scaring the bejesus out of parents everywhere, and Kingston's critical injury is no different.
The Jamaican-American hip hop artist got his first hit in 2007, his song "Beautiful Girls," and was also featured on "Eeenie Meenie" with Justin Bieber and in several songs with other artists. He's got a gorgeous voice and contagious vibe.
According to news reports, Kingston and his lady friend crashed their jet ski into Palm Island Bridge off Miami Beach around 6 p.m. on Sunday night, after which both Kingston and the woman were rushed to the hospital. Originally listed in critical condition, Kingston has been stabilized, thank God, and moved to the ICU. No word as to the extent of his injuries.
So far, it doesn't appear that alcohol was involved in the accident.

From a mom standpoint, this story is just an ugly reminder of the holiday weekend worries that I will carry with me until my own boys are at least 40 years old. Something about these long, sunny weekends always turns reckless and terrifying.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sean Kingston and his loved ones during this time. We hope he'll be tip top and singing again very soon.
Be safe out there folks!
