Today marks the end of 25 long years of The Oprah Winfrey Show. We've laughed with her, we've cried with her, and every day at 4 p.m., whether or not I was in front of a TV, I've thought of her.
We've tuned in as the Queen of Daytime Talk deliberated tough topics and watched as an unparalleled list of celebrities, ranging from the glamorous Beyonce and Aretha Franklin to her BFFL Gayle King, sat alongside Oprah on the couch. And as the countdown to the finale dwindles down, one question remains:
Who will be Oprah's final guest?
Why Oprah, of course.
You know what? I think that is probably the smartest decision Oprah could have made. Like her or hate her, there's no denying that Oprah has left such a lasting legacy on the world of television and in the lives of women throughout America and the world. As we gear up to cry through her last broadcast today, there's no question that Oprah is who we want to see, not some other A-list celebrity, politician, or whomever. That's what the "Farewell Spectacular" was for, right?
