Danielle Staub, former star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey and general crazy chick, has realized what viewers have known all along: She needs help. So she's stepping away from her long career on the stripper pole (thank gawd!) and seeking psychological treatment.
Yes, it seems she's done, even ditching her recently signed gig with Scores Gentlemen’s Club in New York. She's ready to figure out her life and come to terms with her past. She told People her, uh ... issues stem from childhood sexual abuse.
I have addictions with love and low self-esteem, and I need help! My low self-esteem derived from childhood sexual abuse has messed with my mind and self-worth, and over the years I thought about getting help but pushed it deep into the depths of denial. For years I have had the suicide hotline on my cell phone and would like nothing more than to free myself from this constant pressure.
I don't doubt for one second that she has issues -- BIG issues -- but forgive me for questioning the timing and sincerity of her whole light-seeing moment. The same week The Real Housewives of New Jersey premieres and does just fine without her? Seems like someone may be feeling a little left out of the limelight, you know, when her stripping abilities weren't lauded by the masses.
It also smells strangely like a ploy to get on Celebrity Rehab, and she has said she's seeking the help of Dr. Drew Pinsky, so it's a little suspect. I hate to be cynical, but c'mon, this is Danielle we're talking about. Regardless, let's hope that even if her intent isn't the purest, she gets some real help along the way.
What do you think of Danielle Staub's announcement that she's seeking help and coming down from the stripper pole?
