During Friday the 13th's practice session, Dancing With the Stars pro Kym Johnson had some seriously bad luck when she took a nasty fall and sustained a neck injury. She ended up on a stretcher with a neck brace (video below) and went to Cedar Sinai Hospital for testing. It was a frightening moment for her celebrity partner Hines Ward when the 34-year-old fell. With only four contestants remaining, could this put the pair out of the running for the Mirror Ball trophy?
Pittsburgh Steelers fans sure hope not -- along with all the fans Hines acquired (that smile! He sure is charming!) -- but the dancers are back to their fancy footwork on Monday and neck injuries can be serious business. With the lost practice days, this doesn't seem good for Hines and Kym who have to perform three dances this coming week. Still all the remaining couples have been on the injured list.
Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas bounced back after Mark's awful-looking ankle twist. Both Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy took tumbles and remained contenders. And Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff made the semi-finals even when hurt.
A Dancing With the Stars rep shared:
After several tests, she was cleared by the medical staff, though she is bruised, sore and currently wearing a neck brace. Kym plans to continue with Hines Ward in the competition and resume rehearsals as soon as possible.
Kym said the fall left her shaken up and she continues to feel sore. Johnson tweeted this on Saturday:
I'm feeling better today and I am so happy my Mom is here with me. Thanks again everyone for all the lovely messages..
So glad to hear because her trip to the ambulance was a scary sight:
Feel better Kym!
What do you think of all these injuries on DWTS? Will Kym be able to bounce back? Who do you want to win this season?
