HOT NEW COUPLE ALERT! Aerosmith frontman and American Idol judge Steven Tyler has been spending time with Oscar-nominated actor Johnny Depp, and apparently the two have been playing musical snugglebunnies, if you know what I mean.
Actually, I don't know what that means. But I like to imagine it involves them putting on pirate costumes and singing "Sweet Emotion" together.
Tyler recently sat down with Today's Matt Lauer to chat about being famous and living the rockstar lifestyle in L.A. and why he's sporting like a metric crap-ton of scary plastic surgery on his freaky Muppet face (okay, Lauer didn't actually ask him about that last thing, which is why he's a terrible journalist).
In the course of the interview, Tyler got downright gushy about having Johnny Depp as a Hollywood BFF:
"I get to write songs with Johnny Depp. I would have never done that being home. He plays music and I call him [and say] 'I'm coming over, we're going to write a song together.' He's like 'yeah, come over…tell me if I'm playing 'Seasons of Wither' right."
Whoah. That's kind of an epic Aerosmith tune to try at home. Isn't it about seven minutes of guitar-shredding power ballad-ness? I kind of love the idea of Johnny Depp playing that, all bent over his guitar … maybe a little sweaty … possibly naked.
Wait. Where were we?
Anyway, Depp has publicly returned the man-love, telling Extra,
“We’ve been hanging out here and there. He’s someone I’ve admired greatly for such a long time. The idea of writing songs with him is a dream come true.”
Depp's musical interests aren't new—he actually began his career as a musician before turning to acting, and he's recently recorded with and produced the British band Babybird. Gorgeous AND multi-talented! I bet he can grill a mean steak, too.
What's next for the happy duo? Tyler recently said he'd like Depp to play him in the movie version of his life, because I guess that's the sort of demented crap you say when you're a huge superstar, and Depp agreed that he might be up for it. Awwww. I think Depp would look quite nice with a scarf-studded microphone, don't you?
Can you imagine if Steven Tyler and Johnny Depp actually released a single together? Would you buy it?
