kate gosselinThe post call for the 2011 Kentucky Derby is set for 6:24 pm EDT Saturday, but for celebrities the partying is already well under way. This year a random assortment of hot, hat-wearing celebrities has descended on Louisville -- some more famous than others, all looking for a good time.

We all know TLC reality star and single mom Kate Gosselin loves the spotlight, so the odds were pretty good she'd show up for this event. On Friday she visited the Style Icon 2011 Luxury Gifting Suite at the Galt House Hotel & Suites Grand Ballroom to try on hats before deciding on the above for the big day; later she attended the 2011 Barnstable-Brown gala at the Barnstable-Brown House.

Who else is Gosselin sipping mint juleps with in Kentucky?

Other guests at last night's Barnstable-Brown gala included a slew of country musicians -- Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry (of country duo Montgomery Gentry), Wynonna Judd, and Miranda Lambert -- as well as Victoria's Secret Angel and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue model Marissa Miller.

Another event Friday night was the Mint Jubliee Celebration, a gala to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Celebs including Bob Costas, Julie Benz, Jamie Kennedy, Audrina Patridge, Jennifer Tilly, Betsey Johnson, Illeana Douglas, and others were rumored to be on the guest list. American Idol winners Jordin Sparks and Kris Allen performed at the event.

Saturday's festivities include a Pegasus Parade and Celebrity Luncheon, during which Gosselin will be joined by Tracy Morgan of NBC's 30 Rock, singer and songwriter Raven-Symone; Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas of VHI's What Chilli Wants, and Vicki Gunvalson of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Orange County.

Even more celebrities are expected for the big race ... admit it: When it comes to the Kentucky Derby are the celebrity sightings just as exciting as the horses?
