Is 'Glee Live! 3D!' Sloppy Seconds or Something Special?

glee liveLooks like Glee is taking a tip from Justin Bieber and The Jonas Brothers and releasing their very own ... 3D movie! Oh yeah, you read that right! I guess we Gleeks will finally have our chance to get "slushied" by one of the cast members, you know, albeit virtually. Sweeet!

Just today, 20th Century Fox announced that it will release a feature film called GLEE LIVE! 3D!, which will be made up of footage that will be shot during this summer's upcoming Glee Live! In Concert! tour. So, in other words, any of us who weren't able to see the live show can see the theatrical run during two weeks in August, beginning on August 12.

Ryan Murphy explained in a statement:

There were only so many cities we could get to. We knew that not every fan who wanted to attend a concert would get that opportunity. Now, thanks to our friends at Twentieth Century Fox Film, we'll be able to bring the concert experience to movie theaters across the country in full three dimensional glory. We promise every passionate Gleek a cinematic experience that will have them singing and dancing in the aisles.

Yes, but ... will we actually get to sing and dance in the aisles?! Hello, that would be brilliant. They could make it like a Rocky Horror Picture Show screening, where we could all get dressed up in our high school best, then sing and dance along to Glee versions of "Born This Way" and "Go Your Own Way" (my fave from last night by far)! Sorry, just having a Gleek-out right here.

As far as I'm concerned, this news is freakin' awesome! I wasn't sure I would be able to make it to the live show, even though I am lucky to have a couple comin' my way here in the NYC area. But I sure will be making a point to head to the theater to check out the New Directions in their feature film debut!

How 'bout you -- will you be seeing the live show, the movie, or both?
