Reese Witherspoon Honeymoons With Kids in Tow

Reese Witherspoon and Jim TothNewlyweds Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth are spending their honeymoon in beautiful Belize. The hot jungle, the cool water, a perfect lovers' getaway to relax and enjoy one another and their new marriage ... only they brought the kids. Cue the screeching-to-a-halt sound.

According to People, the newlyweds along with Witherspoon's children Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7, all flew over together, and now they're acting "like regular tourists."  Doesn't sound very romantic, now does it?

It's a lovely gesture to include children in your honeymoon, to embrace this journey you're embarking upon as a new family with a journey of your own, but it's not a honeymoon -- it's a family vacation. There's a big difference between staying for days on end in bed ravishing each other, and hiking around town showing your young children the sights.

Witherspoon recently told Elle that she "feels sick" if she's away from her children for more than a few days. I absolutely understand that feeling, but I also know that it's easy to put one's romantic life on the back burner because of children's needs. It happens to the strongest, hottest of couples over the years, so starting out a marriage with them smack in the middle of everything -- even the honeymoon -- seems a bit risky for the romance.

The couple has been crazy busy as of late between her birthday, the wedding, and her upcoming movie Water for Elephants. It would have been nice if they could have used this time to slow down and focus on one another instead of all that goes into a family vacation.

Witherspoon seems like an amazing mom, and I'm sure she chose to bring them along to ease the transition for them, and to bond them as a family unit now. Maybe that's what they all need right now, but I hope at some point the newlyweds are able to escape by themselves and have a real hot and heavy honeymoon.

What do you think about newlyweds bringing their children along for the honeymoon?
