Flaunting illegal drug use is his thing, and it seems to be working for Wiz Khalifa. His album Rolling Papers leaked today, a week before it was scheduled to be released. Big shocker, since ALL albums seem to "leak" these days, but it's creating a big buzz, especially amongst those who like to get buzzed.
Rap Radar has track number 13 "Rooftops," check it out and see what you think. It's nothing that blew me away; the lyrics are your typically profanity-laced assortment of hoes this, effin' that, but it has a nice beat. Perfect for waking and baking or late night tokin' and jokin' -- whatever your thing.
Though he was arrested in November 2010 on drug charges after talking to a magazine about his $10,000-a-month weed habit and tweeting about his penchant for pot, not even jail has made his highness rethink his public promotion of pot. But like I said, it seems to be working for him ...
Not to limit his marijuana love to music, he's also headed into the movie biz. Khalifa is teaming up with rap legend Snoop Dogg to film a flick called High School, which Dogg describes as "a comedy stoner movie, a little something for the stoners." Sounds like a Fast Times at Ridegmont High remake ... with rap. Could be interesting.
Khalifa is also featured in the new Rick Ross video for "RetroSuperFuture II," singing his love for bud:
I stay high, while y’all stay low/Trying to tell me about the smell, I know/My eyes stay red from all that smoke.
You can see them in action here:
Mainstream media have embraced him. He was named one of MTV News' 11 for '11, and earlier this month he was on the cover of Rolling Stone. Not bad.
Clearly pot is hot for Khalifa ... let's just hope it doesn't get him in hot water again.
