For all the Rebecca Black hate out there, she's amassing a pretty impressive fan club, including one of the harshest music critics out there -- Simon Cowell. That's right, the former American Idol judge who had a zero tolerance policy for dreadful music says he loves the young Miss Black. Has he gone mad?
He didn't actually offer any praise for her talent, but rather her rise to fame. He told People: "I love her [and] the fact that she's gotten so much publicity. People are so upset about the song, but I think it's hysterical." Hysterical -- I'll give him that.
He also said he wants to meet her. "Anyone who can create this much controversy within a week, I want to meet. I love people like that." Wonder if he's met Charlie Seen?
He's going to have to get in line, however, as others in the music world are clamoring to meet the singing sensation.
Chris Brown, who just heard the song for the first time on Thursday (where have you been, Chris?) gave it high marks. He told Washington’s Hot 99.5 radio station: “Honest opinion? It was great. I’ll be jammin’ to it on Friday, Friday.” Then he proceeded to sing along to it. Check it out:
There's even some Glee love for Black. The Tufts University Beelzebubs, who are the voices behind the show's Dalton Academy Warblers, said they'd love to work with her. “Oh my God, yes please, hook us up with her,” one of the members told Celebuzz.
As for Black, it's Justin Bieber on whom she has her eye. She told Good Morning America on Friday:
I have Bieber fever, I am in love with Justin Bieber. That would just be…oh my gosh, just thinking of it gives me butterflies. Justin, if you're watching this right now, would you do a duet with me? That would be unreal, that would just make my life.
Watch out, Selena Gomez!
Are you a fan of Rebecca Black? Are you surprised others are?
