It is one of 20th Century Fox's biggest franchises. The X-Men movies. The latest one is hitting theaters this summer, ladies, and I've already expressed to you how excited I am! X-Men: First Class. Just typing the words gives me goosebumps. It's a huge new re-boot of the series. We have a fantastic cast -- Oliver Platt, Kevin Bacon, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy to name a few. We have January Jones in figure-hugging costumes.
And now we have the worst movie posters ever.
I see lots of movies. I see lots of movie posters and these may just be the worst I have ever seen. Two versions of the posters were released last night on the film's Facebook page, where 20th Century Fox is drumming up oodles of buzz. One has a silhouette of Professor Xavier and the other features Magneto's outline.
Just look at 'em, folks. The silhouettes, by themselves, wouldn't have been so bad, but adding these weird pictures of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender? Whose bright idea was that -- and do they still have a job? Geez, part of James McAvoy's right eye and his whole eyebrow is cut out by the wheelchair outline -- if I were him, I'd be a bit miffed.
If they came out and told us these were the winning posters of some contest -- and you had to be 10 years old or younger to enter -- that I would get. But you know some poster artist somewhere in Hollywood got paid big bucks to come up with this.
I have to say, the pure disasters that they are seem to be generating a lot of chatter. People are talking about it, heading to the site to see the posters. Whoa. Maybe, just maybe this was done on purpose. Maybe someone had the grand idea to make horrible posters for free PR to get more people interested in the movie. As they say, there's no such thing as bad press.
What do you think of the X-Men: First Class posters?
