The casting news for Zack Snyder’s new Superman movie keeps trickling in, and Diane Lane is the latest to land a coveted role. But not as the superhero's love interest, Lois Lane, who may or may not be cast in the film, but rather as Superman's mother. Huh, isn't Lane a little too hot for that role?
It's not that moms can't be hot, but Lane is another league of hotness -- that's what she's known for. Her name alone makes people blush thinking about her sexy scenes in films like Unfaithful and Walk on the Moon. Add to that the fact that super smokin' Henry Cavill is playing Superman, and that's just too much hotness ... at least between mother and son.
Furthermore, she actually plays his adoptive mother in the film, so a relationship between them could happen, and I'm thinking the whole thing could just be awkward. She's 46, he's 27 -- stranger things have been known to happen.
In a press release, Snyder said:
This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman .... We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.
I will have to restrain myself from focusing on all the other things she could convey on him. Lane is an incredible actress, so hopefully she'll be able to convincingly pull off the role. But hotness is hard to hide.
The real problem now is who they can possibly cast as Lois Lane that can realistically compete for Superman's attention with a mom like that.
What do you think of Diane Lane playing Superman's adoptive mother?
