2011 Oscar Highlights & Winners

oscar winnersThe 83rd Academy Awards are over. The Oscars, dubbed as the new young hip Oscars by young, hip co-hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco, didn't feel very new or young or hip at all. It's not that the show was really bad, it just wasn't all that great either.

The highlights are few: Kirk Douglas kept the Best Supporting Actress nominees on the edge of their seats after tearing open the envelope and blathering on about other things; Melissa Leo dropped the F-bomb in her acceptance speech; Christian Bale had a really bad beard; Halle Berry gave a quick tribute to jazz singer and actress Lena Horne, who died this year; Oprah Winfrey was a surprise presenter (well, at least it was a surprise to me); Justin Timberlake is the street artist Banksy (just kidding); and a chorus of New York fifth graders from PS 22 closed the Oscars with an amazing performance of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

Other than that, you didn't miss much and all you need to know (besides who's dress was best) is who won. So here, the winners:
