Lindsay Lohan at L.A. Superior CourtWell, despite her attempt today to wear slightly more conservative courtroom attire than the tight white dress she wore a few weeks ago, it looks like Lindsay Lohan will be going to jail on the felony grand theft charge.
No, she's not going to jail today and we don't know how long a sentence she will receive, but the judge today says there's no way around jail time for the troubled actress.
At her hearing today at the Los Angeles Superior Court, according to L.A. Now, Judge Keith Schwartz told Lindsay Lohan:
This case does involve jail time -- period. If you plead in front of me -- if this case resolves in front of me -- you are going to jail. Period. It may be an issue as to amount of time.
Lohan has until May 10 to decide whether to contest the grand theft charge in court or agree to a plea deal -- meaning plead guilty or no contest to felony grand theft -- the terms of which were not disclosed. TMZ sources say the offer the D.A. made in chambers is six months in jail. If she doesn't take the deal and stands trial on the charge and is found guilty, Lohan could face up to one year in state prison. In other words, unless Lohan and her lawyer can somehow prove her innocence in the alleged theft, she will be looking at six months to a year in jail.
Judge Schwartz also suggested Lohan get some therapy and a sponsor in a 12-step program in hopes that they might help her to become "a productive citizen and reach the potential" she might have. This judge is dishing up some tough love for Lohan, the kind of tough love she's been needing for a long, long time.
Do you agree with the judge's decision to send Lindsay Lohan to jail no matter what?

Absolutely, she's managed to dodge serious time in all of her cases where mere mortals wouldn't because they don't have her money to spend on fancy lawyers. And the judge is not saying jail no matter what. He's saying if she pleads in front of him he will give her jail time and that if she goes to trial and is found guilty she will get jail time. If she doesn't plead in front of this judge and instead goes to trial that judge will also be deciding her probation violation. If THAT judge decides there's enough to warrant a violation he will send her to jail while waiting trial for he grand theft charge. This girl has been enabled her entire adult life with people making excuses for her and her for herself as well. She always has a reason, an excuse. I get that many people want Lindsay to fail but what reason would this jewelry store have to loan her the piece of jewelry only to claim she stole it? The publicity isn't that great.
Absolutely. Normally I couldn't give two craps, but after seeing this, she has a bigger problem than I thought. I mean, she's got the money-why steal???
Yeah I think this is long over due. Its making me sick watching her get a slap on a wrist after everything she's done. Maybe if Judges we're tough on celebrities they would keep their ass out of trouble. Seems like every time she gets sent to rehab she is out 10 days later and back in trouble
I found it interesting in the article I read that the judge also said she needs rehab and a person to help her who isn't a family member. About time someone got tough on her and quit giving her special treatment.
If anyone is the "attention whore" I feel it is the jewelry place. Now comeon, they knew she had it so why not just go to her and get it or um STOP her before she went out the door. You can NOT tell me she didn't have a sales person on her like 'white or rice' trying to sell her that or any other item. They let her leave with it in MY opinion.
Now on the needing therapy and a person other than a family member help her I agree.
