"I was given some news that literally shook me to my core. This time, I'm the one being reunited," Oprah announced. "I was keeping a family secret for months, and on Monday you're going to hear it straight from me."
Everyone's speculating what Oprah's big secret might be, but there's one person who claims to know the truth—and, naturally, she practically broke a hip getting her own announcement out before Oprah could do so.
Now, if you'd rather avoid spoilers until hearing it straight from the Big O today, click elsewhere, but if you want to know what the most popular spoiler is ... *plays dramatic music*
Oprah has a long-lost sister. But here's the crazy part: her name is Bunny.
Kitty Kelly, famed celebrity biographer who wrote an exhaustive story of Oprah’s life and career last year, says Oprah's big secret is a half-sister who was placed for adoption as a baby. Citing an “inside family source,” Kelley said Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee, gave birth to the daughter (named Bunny) (BUNNY!), then gave her away shortly thereafter because she couldn’t afford to take care of her.
Bunny, who is now a grandmother, will reportedly appear with Oprah on today's show.
If this is true—and it seems likely enough, especially since the teaser video of the big secret show supposedly shows an African-American woman coming out of the shadows—Kitty Kelley is a genius for scooping Oprah's reveal. She'll probably see a jump in her book sales, and maybe a nice advance on her next unauthorized biography.
Can I just say that if I was going to randomly discover late in life that I had a half-sister, I would totally want it to be Oprah? All that CHA-CHING loving family togetherness to catch up on.
What do you think about the half-sister theory?
