Will Steven Tyler Save 'American Idol'?

Steven TylerSteven Tyler is still hot after all these years. There's just something about him, his lips, and his bad-but-not-too-bad boy ways that just may save American Idol Season 10 after a couple of dismal seasons. If last night is any indication, Tyler is cocked, locked, and ready to rock the show back into shape.

He kind of skated the line between lecherous old man, hot rock star, and kind grandfather, but somehow it worked. I mean you just can't get too offended at a man who calls breasts "oohoohbees," as he did when referring to a contestant who showed up wearing stars on hers. "What's with the jujubees on your oohoohbees?"

He was funny -- "Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a child?" he asked one contestant. But also kind and encouraging to the contestants. "We oughta let her in the door. Water that flower 'cause I think it's gonna grow," he said of another.

And he's just crazy. The best quote of the night: "Well, hellfire, save matches, f--- a duck, and see what hatches!"

Simon Cowell was good, but never that entertaining. Entertainment Weekly called Tyler "a marvel" and a "wise old loon," which is dead on.

Not to mention, he's still sexy. As creepy as I find it to admit that I find a 62-year-old attractive, he just is. He's Steven Tyler.

So no, ratings weren't great last night. The 26.1 million viewers that tuned in represented a 13 percent drop from last season and the lowest rated premiere since its premiere in 2002. Dismal, but I think as more people tune in and see just how good Tyler is, those numbers are bound to go up.

Did you watch American Idol last night? What did you think of Steven Tyler?
